Symbol Hide and Seek

by KeithR

Chrispian made a comment about the symbol on Ali Larter’s back in the episode Fallout. He said he noticed that it was visible when Ali was playing Jessica and not when playing Niki.

I recently purchased Fallout from iTunes so I took a few screen caps to see if we could track this elusive symbol. In image one we see the full on symbol displayed proudly on Ali while in jessica mode:

A few seconds later after having found DL’s bloody jacket, Ali shifts back to Niki mode and takes a tumble. While on the ground we catch a glimpse of Ali’s bare shoulder, sans symbol:

It seems that the symbol is tied to Jessica rather than Niki. I think that this links her to the Haitian and Chandra Suresh somehow, but I’m still working on that. Any other theories out there?

I noticed that, too. I think you’re on to something there.

  2. KeithR Says:

It’s either that or the continuity guy needs to be fired!

  3. David Says:

    Hi, Keith.

The symbol has actually been popping up all over the place on Heroes. I knew I saw it on more than just Jessica, but I couldn’t quite place it…then I found this page on the heroeswiki and it’s even more widespread than I thought.

It will definitely end up being a “key” of some sort, but I also just think they put stuff like this into the show to get all the nerds (like me) even more into the mythology of the show.

  4. Neil K Says:

Its a gene, and it on the book published by Mohinder’s father, Human Evolution. I remember seeing it on the episode first introducing Sylar (aka Gabriel the watchmaker).

  5. KeithR Says:

Neil, that seems to be the concensus. The symbolhas reared it’s little head 15 (at the time of this response) times so far. I posted about the appearances here: http://www.watchingheroes.com/on-the-subject-of-symbols/

    Thanks for dropping by.
