Recap, Episode 3.10, "The Eclipse, Part 1"
We open with images of all of the drawings Arthur made while in his trance: the eclipse; Hiro, Ando and Matt in a cornfield; Elle and Sylar kissing; HRG holding a bleeding Claire, etc.
Elle is still training Sylar to use his new electrical ability, when they are interrupted by Arthur. He tells "Gabriel" that he has an assignment: bring him Claire Bennet. Elle talks them into letting her tag along.
Arthur goes to Mohinder and shows him the picture of dead Claire. They chat about the eclipse and how it may affect all of their powers. They realize that if Claire dies, there may be no hope for any of them.
At Team Company, Angela is sending everyone on assignments. Nathan is to go to Haiti to find The Haitian. Parkman is charged with finding Hiro. Claire’s job is to stay safe and hidden because she is apparently The Catalyst. Claire’s not too happy about hiding, she wants to go out and be all heroic, but Angela brings in an agent to keep her in check…dear old dad. HRG takes Claire to the home of Vortex Stephen Canfield where they can hide (why?) and decides to give her some training on how to fight.
Elle and Sylar head out to find Claire. They first hit a rental car place (again, why? Does Pinehearst not have any company cars?). Elle seems to want to bring out the killer in Sylar. What exactly is her angle?
Peter tries to talk Nathan into taking him to Haiti. Nathan is reluctant but finally agrees and they fly off to find The Haitian.
Tracy is at The Company showing her "support" for Angela, all the while working with Arthur. She wants Nathan in the White House with her by his side and will do whatever it takes for Arthur to help him get there.
As Parkman is looking for contact information for Hiro, Hiro and Ando just happen to knock on their door. Wow, how did that happen? Because 9th Wonders told them to go there. They need Parkman to fix his mind. Parkman tries, but since Hiro thinks in Japanese, he can’t figure out what is going on in Hiro’s head. Daphne can’t handle the pressure of being a double agent and starts to freak out. She is afraid Arthur will steal her powers. She flees the scene but not before Parkman reads her mind to find out that she is from Lawrence, Kansas. Oh guess what? The comic book shows Hiro, Ando and Matt in Lawrence, Kansas. Hiro zaps them all to a cornfield in front of Daphne’s home.
And then there was an eclipse…
As Nathan and Peter fly over Haiti, they fall from the sky into a river. Peter ponders the affect of the eclipse and the brothers Petrelli argue. They head off in the jungle to look for The Haitian. More arguing ensues.
They eventually happen upon the Haitian, but he won’t go with them until he can find one of the Level 5 escapees, who just happens to be his brother Samedi, who just happens to show up and capture Nathan.
Back in Kansas, Daphne’s dad won’t let Parkman in to see her, so he tries to use his mind control, which isn’t working anymore. After her dad slams the door in Matt’s face, Daphne says “it’s” happening again" and asks her dad if he still has something. He says he does.
Out in the cornfield, Hiro tries to convince Parkman that he has to prove that he is a Hero even if he doesn’t have powers by throwing ears of corn at him…and it works. While Matt does that, Hiro taks Ando to the local comic book store, because a new issue of 9th Wonders should be out. As they walk in, the comic shop employees (played by Breckin Meyer and Seth Green) realize that the front page of 9th Wonders just took place in their store.
Daphne’s dad leaves and Daphne finally agrees to let him in, after hearing Parkman say he is in love with her. She says she didn’t want him to see her like this, as she comes around the corner with her legs in braces and using crutches. This is why she her powers were so important to her.
Elle and Sylar arrive at the case de Vortex to nab Claire, and get a surprise when they’re powers don’t work. HRG has a gun so he’s one up on the Heroes and he kicks ass. After a fight with Sylar, his gun is knocked to the floor. Elle picks it up and tries to shoot HRG, but Claire runs to his rescue and gets shot. Her healing power is gone because of the eclipse, so HRG picks her up and carries her away.
He takes her to the Bennet home where he convinces Sandra not to call an ambulance. Claire seems to be OK so, after sharing some father/daughter bonding time, HRG heads out to kick ass. But while he is gone, Claire takes a turn for the worst. Elle and Sylar, are still at the Vortex house. Being powerless turns them on and they decide to make out in the window. Bad idea. HRG waits outside with a sniper rifle ready to take them out.

Nicely done recap. I too was confused by Elle’s actions… she is supposedly sorry for making Sylar a monster and yet she pulled that stunt at the rental car place.
I’m wondering if they will show us what happened to the offscreen heroes during the eclipse in a GN.
