Recap - Episode 3.03 "One of Us, One of Them"
The Company vs The Villains
We open with a continuation of the scene in which Angela Petrelli reveals that she is Sylar’s mother. She consoles Sylar and introduces him to Bridget, who has the power to see the history of an object, every person who has come into contact with it, just by touching it. She says Bridget is there to "feed" Sylar…and feed she does.
HRG returns to The Company. He tells Angela that he is only there to recapture the escapees, then he is returning to his family. He asks for his old partner, but Angela tells him The Haitian is on an assignment for her. She says she has a new partner for him and takes him to Sylar. HRG is opposed to the idea, but Angela insists, saying that Sylar is just misunderstood and needs some structure. She says she will send Sylar out with someone else if HRG doesn’t agree to partner with him. HRG is left with no choice.
Knox (becomes stronger from people’s fear), Flint (the power of blue flame), The German (manipulates metal) and Jesse (sonic scream) decide to rob a bank. The other villains don’t know that Peter is trapped inside Jesse’s body.
Unbeknownst to the other villains, Knox’s plan is to have The Company show up so he can get revenge on HRG, feeding off the fear of the hostages inside the bank all along. When questioned by The German, Knox punches him, putting a hole right through his body and into the wall. Peter (as Jesse) tries to talk Knox out of the revenge and get him to just run, but Knox realizes something is up and tricks Peter into revealing that he isn’t actually Jesse.
HRG and his newly suited up partner, Sylar, arrive on the scene. Sylar does his best FBI impression but HRG tells Sylar to stand back and do nothing. HRG goes inside and they let the hostages go. Knox pins HRG down, but Peter gets upset and yells, and when he does, he realizes what Jesse’s power is. He begins to use the power to take control of the situation.
Just as he does, time freezes and Future Peter enters. He walks up to Jesse and pushes Present Peter out of his body. Future Peter teleports Regular Peter away, leaving HRG stuck with the real Jesse. Sylar arrives and uses his powers to take control of the villains. As they are preparing to take them back to Level 5, Sylar locks HRG out of the bank and does the brain thing to Jesse, saying that HRG was right, he is evil. They return to The Company, and Angela tells Sylar that there is still hope for him, as she puts him back in a cell. HRG confides in The Haitian that he is only sticking with Sylar long enough to learn his weakness, then he is going to kill him.
The Formula
Hiro and Ando track speedster Daphne to Berlin. She tells them that the first half of the Formula has already been delivered, and she’s at the theater to intercept the second half. Hiro can’t believe that she is so confident that she reveals her plan. They banter and she tries to speed away, but her power isn’t working. Hiro realizes his powers are gone as well. Oh look, it’s The Haitian holding a briefcase. Hiro recognizes him from the future and remembers that he took his power away. They follow The Haitian into the theater.
Inside, Daphne finds them and tries to pit Ando against Hiro. Hiro sees what she is doing and tells Ando that it is “Villainy 101.” She reveals that she is just doing a job for "some guy." Hiro and Ando follow The Haitian as he meets up with a woman to make the exchange. He explains that Angela wants her half of the Formula closer to home due to the recent events.
Hiro and Ando come up with a plan where Ando is supposed to play an usher, but instead Ando hits The Haitian over the head and knocks him out. Hiro wonders why he didn’t stick to the plan, to which Ando replies, “I’m being awesome.” While the Haitian is knocked out, Daphne speeds by and takes the briefcase. Hiro tries to stop time, but the Haitian is awake again. He takes them into custody and we later see them in a cell on Level 5.
The Spirit Journey
Parkman is still in Africa and his guide is telling him about spirit journeys. They come upon an area that is full of paintings of things that have happened in Parkman’s life. The guide tells him that he has been painting these scenes since he was a boy. Parkman sees one painting he doesn’t recognize and the guide tells him that it was his future, but it has now changed. He begins to paint in an Isaac Mendez-like trance. The new painting shows Parkman carrying a blonde woman, who appears to be dead. The guide, presumably, gives Parkman a drug and he also goes into a trance.
At the Bennet house, Claire’s tells her moms that she has decided not to go back to school. There is obvious tension between Sandra and Meredith. Sandra insists that she got to school while bio mom Meredith takes Claire to train her in how to fight. They go into an empty storage container and, with her power of fire, she makes Claire feel like she is suffocating in the container. Claire begs Meredith to stop, but Meredith wants her to confess why she really wants to learn to fight. Claire finally yells out that she wants to "hurt him." She is looking for revenge on Sylar.
Ice Queen
Tracy sits in her room, experimenting with her newfound icy power. Nathan comes looking for her because she missed his swearing-in ceremony as the junior senator from New York. Tracy asks him about Niki Sanders and tells him that she has an address in New Orleans and is going to try to figure it all out.
When she arrives in New Orleans, Tracy find Niki inside a casket. Micah comes in and immediately knows that she is not his mom. They discuss their powers and Micah uses his ability to search the Internet for a connection between Tracy and Niki. They find birth certificates showing that they were born on the same day in the same hospital and were delivered by a Dr. Zimmerman. She tracks him down in California and he tells her that he "created" her.

I liked this episode more than the premiere…but I still feel unsure about this season. I kinda feel the writers want to fit many plotlines in just one episode. They need to find a pacing; faster than season 2, but slower than the one we’ve got now.

I agree Dreyesbo. It does feel very “crammed.” I think that some of these storylines will come together and make more sense when it’s all said and done though.
How awesome was Sylar!?

Very awesome. The line of the night was “You do drink decaf, right Noah”. If I hadn’t watched it while my family was sleeping, I would’ve laughed out loud. Very loud.

I still can’t believe that The German and Jesse got killed off that fast. Last season I did reviews, but this season I’m still trying to process it all.
I still wanna know where Future Peter got that “hide people in someone else” power from. Until he pushed present Peter out, I’d wondered where Jesse was while Present Peter was “driving” now I know Jesse was there all along.
