Ratings for Season Premiere Down from Last Year
Even with all of the promotion NBC gave Heroes this summer, ratings for the premiere were down 25% compared with last year’s one-hour season opener.
The first hour saw 9.9 million viewers, scoring a 4.9 preliminary adults 18-49 rating and earning a 12 share, ranking second in the 9 p.m. hour behind ABC’s Dancing With the Stars. It came in second at 10 p.m. to CBS CSI: Miami debut. The Countdown to the Premiere special (6 million, 2.6/7) placed third in the 8pm hour.
The critically panned second season and the writer’s strike obviously had their effect.
These numbers, of course, don’t take into account DVR statistics or the viewers who will watch at Hulu.com or when the show reairs this Saturday, September 27.

I definitely hope Heroes can keep up good ratings this season! I guess you can count me in with the DVR crowd–I can skip through those pesky commercials without having to wait for all my questions to be answered
