Episode 2.9 Recap - “Cautionary Tales”

I know, I know. I’m late with the recap. Sorry guys. I promise I’ll do better. *ducks*
Anyway - WHAT AN EPISODE! (Caution: Spoilers Ahead):
Hiro attended his father’s funeral but when he got up to speak he realized he could change what had happened and save his father. He teleported back to the rooftop of the DeVeaux building and saw his father arguing with Angela Petrelli. After Angela left, Hiro came out and spoke with his father. He warned him that he was going to die. Kaito said that was his fate and he would accept it. Hiro could not accept that and teleports his dad back in time in an attempt to convince him to be saved. He took him back to the funeral of Hiro’s mother in order to show him the heartache he would leave behind if he allowed himself to die. Hiro had a conversation with himself as a child and realized that he could not play God. Convinced his father was right, Hiro took him back to the rooftop to meet his fate. The hooded figure ran out and, just as he knocked Kaito off the roof, Hiro stopped time. He said if he couldn’t save his father, he could at least see who the killer was. As he approached the frozen duo, he realized the killer was none other than Kensei (aka Adam Monroe).
Matt experimented with his mind control powers by telepathically convincing Molly to eat her breakfast. Later, at work, he convinced his boss, with his mind, to let him work some more on the Angela Petrelli case. Matt telepathically convinced her to tell him everything about Adam. We learned that he can heal and that he will never grow old. She told him that Adam was the killer. Matt asked her who the unidentified woman was in the photo of the older Heroes, but Angela wouldn’t tell and began to have a nosebleed in her efforts to resists Matt’s mind powers. Matt must have won over though because he discovered her name was Victoria Pratt.
Mohinder, Bob and Elle arrived in California to attempt to find Claire. We learned that Bob is Elle’s father. The Bennet/Butler family were preparing for their move. Claire refused to go and told her father that she hated him as she left for school. On the way to school, she made a message on the ground in rocks, in hopes of catching West’s eye as he flew over on his way to school. She spoke to West and tried to apologize but he flew off…right on over to abduct Claire’s daddy (who had just been asking Mohinder to try and locate West so he could talk to him). West was looking for answers and HRG told him the truth as they soared up in the air. As they landed, HRG tackled West and ordered him to tell Claire that she needed to leave California.
As HRG was pinning West down, his phone rang. It was Mohinder who gave him a false location on West in hopes of luring him into a trap. HRG realized he was being set up but didn’t let on. He said he would be right there. West helped him kidnap Elle. Mohinder turned a gun on HRG (as in Isaac’s painting) but HRG overpowered him and took the gun. He was about to shoot Mohinder when West interrupted. They returned to the Bennet household with Elle, only to learn that Claire had been taken by Bob. They restrained Elle and put her feet in a bucket of water so she couldn’t use her powers. They phoned Bob and arranged an exchange but not before Bob took some of Claire’s blood to save Niki.
West joined Bennet to get Claire out of harm’s way. At the beach, they met Bob and Mohinder. Each sent their blonde to the other side, who glared at each other as they passed. West and Claire shot into the sky just as Elle freed herself. She shot a bolt at them, knocking them to the ground. Bennet shot Elle in the arm. Bob ran to his daughter and, as Bennet prepared to shoot Bob, Mohinder fulfilled the prophecy of Isaac’s painting and shots Bennet right in the eye. *GASP*
Our beloved HRG dead. It couldn’t be. But wait, it wasn’t over. As we came back we found a dead HRG hooked up to an IV of blood. As the blood ran into his body, his eye began to heal and he gasped for air and proclaimed, ”Holy @$%^.” My sentiments exactly!
