Episode 2.3 Recap | “Kindred”

Another great episode that just flew by! I think they should make these eppys 2 hours long! If you missed it, remember you can watch it online at NBC.com. Here’s what happened: (Do I even need to say SPOILERS FOLLOW?)

normal_2x03_caps_5B0_38_10_2C00_5D_1.jpgPeter helped the gang of Irish thugs rob an armored car so he could get the mysterious box that contains his identity. He used some telekenesis to keep the gang from being captured and became their hero. One of the gang decided he wanted the money for himself so Peter confronted him and he shot Peter. To his surprise (and Peter’s), Peter’s chest popped the bullets right out and healed up. Peter went Sylar on the creep and telekentically pinned him against the wall, but instead of finishing him off, he let him go. Of course, that really made Peter a shining star in the other thugs book and he gave Peter the box. Thug sister Caitlyn gave Peter an honorary thug tattoo (which promptly turned into the “Godsend” symbol before fading away) and a kiss and Peter decided not to open the box for now.

Maya and Alejandro are still running around. Would you get to the United States already?! Yeesh. This time Alejandro got the bright idea to try and steal a Cadillac, but of course he got caught and thrown in the slammer. In order to save him, Maya got herself captured which made her ooze the ol’ black goop out of her eyeballs killing the two guards and the prisoner who was locked up with Alejandro. She let her brother out and he took away the black ooze and brought everyone back to life. The prisoner, who was American, said he had a car, so they all jumped in and took off.

normal_2x03_caps_5B0_04_25_2C00_5D_1.jpgWe saw Niki and Micah saying goodbye to D.L.’s grave in Las Vegas. Niki took Micah to New Orleans to stay with family (They travel much faster than Maya and Alejandro thank goodness). Nichelle Nichols made a brief appearance to welcome them to “N’awlins.” Niki later showed up in the mysterious Company man’s office and phoned him. She asked if he really thought he could help her. He said he could but she would have to do something for him first. Yeah, there’s always a catch Niki.

normal_2x03_caps_5B0_19_55_2C00_5D_1.jpgClaire confronted West about her “pedicure” but he didn’t believe her. He saw the whole toe-cutting incident. In class, he acted an ass by asking the teacher what would happen if a lizard and a human mated. Claire got pissed and left the classroom. West came after her and told her to admit she was different. Claire admitted it and West scooped her up and flew her up in the air. After the Superman/Lois moment, they went to the beach where they shared a kiss. Claire noticed a mysterious mark on his neck and West explained how he had been kidnapped by a man in horn-rimmed glasses. Uh-oh. Guess she won’t be bringing him home to meet Daddy.

normal_2x03_caps_5B0_32_25_2C00_5D_1.jpgAndo, bored at his cubicle job, takes Kensei’s sword out of his file cabinet and discovers that the end now says “Ando Open.” Inside he finds several scrolls that Hiro has written to him, explaining why he must stay in 1671. Meanwhile, in 1671, Hiro has convinced Kensei to use his healing power to defeat the 90 Angry Samurai and obtain the fire scroll. Hiro then decided that his work in the past was done and he should return home, but he changed his mind at the last minute and decided to stay. He’s in love with the princess so I think that’s what’s keeping him there.

normal_2x03_caps_5B0_05_45_2C00_5D_1.jpgAnd my favorite part of the episode, Sylar is Back!! We saw him laying on a beach with a beautiful redhead at his side, but discovered that the redhead was shape-shifter Candace, now calling herself Michelle, and the beach was all an illusions. In actuality, they were deep in a jungle in a little shack and she was nursing Sylar back to health. Sylar was unable to use his power and became angry. Somehow he was able to muster up enough power to partake of a Candace-brain feast, but wasn’t able to use her ability.

Mohinder returned from Cairo to Parkman and Molly. They shared a cozy family moment and then we saw Mohinder being set up in his state-of-the-art new lab, which used to be Isaac’s loft. Nice reuse of sets there Heroes! Company Man told him he would be supervised. When the Man stepped out to take his phone call from Niki, Mohinder phoned H.R.G. as he rummaged through some paintings that were still in the loft. He sent him a photo of the 8th in the series of 8, and to our surprise the painting shows H.R.G. laying there bloody, presumably dead, with his glasses broken. And standing in the background is his baby girl Claire. Was she the culprit?
