Episode 2.11 Recap - “Powerless”

Heroes did not disappoint last night with an action-packed season finale. We got resolution for one story and began another. Who knows when we might get to see the rest of Volume 3 though. Here’s what happened last night:Mohinder arrived back at his New York apartment to find Sylar and Maya waiting for him. Maya was cooking breakfast and Sylar had been doing a little snooping on the doc’s laptop. Sylar demanded that Mohinder help him restore his powers and pulled a gun on him. Maya freaked out and black voodoo’d everyone, forcing herself to stop when Sylar reminded her that Mohinder was the only one who could help her. Mohinder agreed to help Sylar but said they would need to go to his lab at casa Mendez to do it. As they arrived at the lab, Sylar reminded everyone that this was where he killed Isaac. Mohinder told him he will need to take a sample of his blood to see which strain of the virus he had. Maya and Molly were talking on the bed about Alejandro and Molly offered to find him. Maya showed her the picture of Alejandro and Molly did her thing, only to reveal that he wasn’t anywhere. Maya figured out what that meant and began to freak out. Sylar, having no patience for such things, shot her right in the chest. Sylar ordered Mohinder to give her some of Claire’s blood to see if it would work. He did and the bullet popped right out and her wounds healed, bringing her back to life. What happened next? We’ll get to that in a minute.

Claire was preparing to go pubic with her powers and all of the files from Primatech. Her mother and West both tried to convince her not to do it, but Claire was determined to avenge her father’s death. Back at Company Central, Elle was benched by her father for confronting Claire. Upset, she went to H.R.G.’s cell and asked him to tell her about the testing they performed on her as a child. He told her how her father continued to test her at age 7 when she was clearly pushed to the limit. They were interupted by Bob, who told Noah that Claire was “being difficult” and precautionary measures would need to be taken to keep her from going public. Elle went back to daddy’s office to find that her file was empty. She logged into his computer and found surveilance cameras watching Mohinder’s lab. As she watched, she realized that Sylar was in the lab and decided that she could make her daddy proud if she could capture him.

Back at the lab, Sylar grabbed the syringe with the blood and started to leave. Before he could kill everyone, Elle walked in and sent a electric bolt his way. Sylar fled out the back door and Elle ran after him. Elle returned, fearing her father would be disappointed that she couldn’t capture Sylar. Mohinder told her that she had just saved all of their lives. She was pleased with herself.

Noah walked in the door as Claire looked up in disbelief. He told her that she had to stop. He explained that he had made a deal with The Company that would keep them safe, but only if Claire stopped trying to go public. He left and met Bob outside, telling him it was done.

In New Orleans, Niki and Micah were trying to find Monica to save her from the hoodlum who captured her while she was trying to recover Micah’s stolen backpack. Micah “told” his cell phone to find her cell phone. Monica’s captor had tied her up in a vacant building and set it on fire. Niki and Micah arrived just as the guy was leaving, and even though her super strength was gone, Niki kicked his ass pretty well. She ran into the building to save Monica and managed to get her out. Niki was unable to get herself out though and last we saw her she was still inside the burning building as Micah and Monica watched it explode.

Nathan and Matt got Angela released from prison and Matt reveals that Adam killed Victoria Pratt. Nathan revealed that Peter was alive and working with Adam. Angela told them that the older generation of Heroes partnered with Adam until it became clear that he had evil intentions. She said Peter was the only one who had the powers to get to the virus. Through her thoughts she told Matt that the only way to stop Adam was with a bullet to the brain and if he wanted to stop Peter, he would have to do the same to him.

At Primatech, Peter and Adam were making their way to the virus when time stopped. Hiro showed up and confronted Peter, explaining that Adam was evil. Peter didn’t believe him and shocked him. Time started again and Adam startled when he saw Hiro. He took the sword from him and they continued on their way to the virus. Nathan and Matt flew in (and in the only light moment of the night, vowed to never speak of their embracing flight again). They encountered Hiro who told them that Peter and Adam were inside. They made their way in.

Peter and Adam arrived at a heavily armored door. Peter questioned Adam about what they were doing, but Adam conviced him that it was the right thing and the older Heroes were evil. Peter mustered up all of his strength and eventually got the door to the safe open. Hiro appeared to keep them from going into the safe, but Peter knocked him against the wall. Matt showed up and began thinking thoughts to Peter while Adam went inside the vault. Matt tried to convince Peter that Adam was evil but he wasn’t buying it. Then Nathan came in and worked on Peter a little. Hiro appeared inside the vault and tried to stop Adam. Adam was holding the virus behind his back and dropped it, just as Hiro grabbed him and teleported him out. Peter ran in and caught the vial just before it hit the ground, saving the world once again. He then took the vial and nuked it into dust (which I guess was safe), destroying the virus.

Ando walked into the office to find Hiro there. He asked what happened and Hiro said he had made sure Adam would never kill again.Cut to Adam inside a coffin, screaming for help. He had been buried alive in the Japanese cemetary where Hiro’s father was buried.

The three amigos, Nathan, Matt and Peter, decided they must expose The Company and Nathan told Matt he would need him to make sure people listened to him. They called a press conference in Odessa. Nathan addressed the nation about ordinary people who could do extraordinary things but just before he could reveal his ability of flight, he was shot. A man dressed in black left the scene. Cut to Angela Petrelli, on the phone with someone. She said “it was unavoidable” and told the person they had opened a “Pandora’s Box.” END OF VOLUME 2

VOLUME 3: VILLAINS begins. Cut to Sylar, sitting in an alley. He took the syringe filled with Claire’s blood and injected it into his arm. His visible wounds began to heal. He spotted a tin can across the alley and tried to use his power to bring it to him. He was successful. “I’m baaaaaack,” he said with a sinister smile.

And that, my friends, concludes this short season of Heroes.
