Dead But Not Forgotten, Part 3

by Debbie

In our final chapter of ‘Dead But Not Forgotten’, we remember 3 characters who had seemingly minor roles but actually played a major part in the story. (If you didn’t a chance to check out Part 1 or Part 2, make sure you do that.)

Chandra_1.jpgChandra Suresh
(Erick Avari)

Chandra Suresh may have only appeared briefly in the series, but he is still a major player in the story. He was, of course, Mohinder’s father and the author of Activating Evolution, a book which seems to explain the reasons behind the changes our Heroes are going through. He and Mohinder had a strained relationship because Mohinder wasn’t convinced that his father’s theories were true. It wasn’t until after Chandra’s death that Mohinder began to believe in his father. Before his death, Chandra interviewed Gabriel Gray (aka Sylar), whom he referred to a “Patient Zero.” He was driving a cab in New York City while he worked on his research. Although it isn’t obvious, we are led to believe that Sylar killed Chandra in his cab.

Erick Avari is a busy actor. Post-Heroes, he has guest starred on Law and Order: Criminal Intent and has had roles in 9 movies. I wouldn’t be surprised for him to turn up in more flashback sequences on Heroes eventually either.

Charles_1.jpgCharles Deveaux
(Richard Roundtree)

When we met Charles Deveaux, he was on his deathbed and Peter Petrelli was his nurse. He was a wealthy businessman and owner of the building whose rooftop we see often in the show. He was also Simone Deveaux’s father. He appeared to Peter in a dream at one point and spoke with him about his powers. Immediately afterward, Simone informed Peter that her father had died. We know that Charles was part of the older generation of Heroes, along with Angela Petrelli and Kaito Nakamura, but we haven’t learned all there is to know about this character yet. He’s another one I wouldn’t be surprised to see more of.

Richard Roundtree is another actor who never seems to stop working. He has done 4 movies since he checked out of Heroes, most notably the upcoming Speed Racer film in which he plays Ben Burns.

Jackie_1.jpgJackie Wilcox
(Danielle Savre)

Cheerleader Jackie Wilcox was a classmate and rival of Claire Bennet’s. She was completely obnoxious and felt the need to be the center of everyone’s attention. She took credit for rescuing the man from the firey train wreck after it was announced that the hero was a blonde cheerleader. The blonde cheerleader hero thing didn’t work out so well for her in “Homecoming” because Sylar mistook her for Claire and sliced and diced her head. Claire walked in on the mayhem and Jackie uttered her last word to Claire - “run.”

Danielle Savre is starring in the title role in the upcoming MTV series Kaya. No air date has been announced as far as I can tell for the show though. She has also starred in the upcoming Boogeyman 2 and is filming Primitive now.

So that’s that for our ‘Dead But Not Forgotten’ series. We didn’t get through all of the dead folks, but we got through the most important of them. Let me know if you enjoyed the series of articles and if there are any other former Heroes or Villains you’d like to know about.
