Heroes Partners with Habbo

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

synanders In an effort to attract younger fans to the show and generate traffic to the Heroes Evolutions content at NBC.com, NBC has partnered with Habbo.com,  a social networking site for teens.  Habbo is a free virtual community for teens ages 13 years or older.  Users can chat with friends, play games, design their own virtual room, and create their own avatar.  Through the site, they will be introducing a new character, Syn Anders, who will act as a virtual guide to the series.  She will get teens involved in solving mysteries and joining in quests that will correlate to things that are going on during the second half of the third season.  The character is not scheduled to appear on the television show at this point.

New Heroes iStory - The Private

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

story2_comingSoon In addition to the web series, "The Recruit," NBC.com has also put together an iStory featuring Private Rachel Mills.

Wondering what an "iStory" is?  Well, it’s sort of like the "Choose Your Own Adventure" novels you might have read as a kid.  You read through the story and then choose from different options to decide how it continues.  A new story will be featured each week.  This week’s edition is called "The Private."  It continues Private Mills story from where we left off in the web series, and gives us a little more background on her character.  Here’s a summary:

"Last summer, Rachel Mills was just another Marine trying to stay cool on the front lines of Iraq. But then a bizarre attack occurs at her unit’s checkpoint, and she finds herself fighting for her life. She and the other survivor have only minutes to figure out what happened…
Play the role of Rachel Mills in this special flashback iStory starring the hero of the "Heroes: The Recruit" web series. Your decisions determine Rachel’s story!"

You can find the iStory at NBC.com.

Heroes in a Hurry: Submit Your Own Summary of the Story Thus Far

Monday, January 5th, 2009

m_7380c59c4ca4aaade2ea13ab0b315dff In preparation for Volume 4: Fugitives, NBC is looking for hardcore Heroes fans to tell the story of the show up to the end of Volume 3 on camera and submit it for all of the world (and perhaps the NBC viewing audience) to see.

Since the videos need to be short, NBC suggests that fans focus on a single character or idea.  For example, tell what happened to your favorite character in season 3, or explain what happened during the eclipse.  You can create multiple videos, but try to keep each one focused on a certain topic. NBC has even provided a toolbox containing clips and some script ideas to help you get started.

The best submissions will be shown on the Heroes homepage at NBC.com.

Here are the rules:

  1. Each video you submit should be no longer than one minute.
  2. Your video must be at least 320×240 pixels (or 320×180 for 16:9). Acceptable file formats are: MPG, Quicktime or Windows Media files. File size cannot exceed 50MB
  3. Do NOT include: copyrighted material including movie or television footage (even Heroes), other than the clips provided in the toolbox.
  4. Avoid music, product placement, personal information or URLs. Any videos containing these items will be rejected.

To get started, see the Heroes in a Hurry page at NBC.com.

Check out Greg Grunberg’s Official Website

Saturday, January 3rd, 2009

gregwebsite

Greg Grunberg has had a presence on Twitter and MySpace for some time now, but earlier this month he also launched an official website, http://www.greggrunberg.com/

At the site he has loads of information about his life, career, acting jobs, and charity work.  He also has huge photo and video galleries as well as a message board where fans can register and leave messages for him.  There’s a news section where you’ll find all of the latest news about The Band from TV, Heroes and all of Greg’s other projects.

The site is well put together and Greg is directly involved with the content.  It’s a refreshing change from some of the bare celebrity sites out there.  Stop by and register so you can let Greg know what you think about it.

Bonus Background Story: Hard Knox

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

The writers had intended to give us a little more story on one of our Volume 3 Villains, Knox (as played by Jamie Hector), but as happens with a lot of what gets filmed, the storyline was scrapped for time or other considerations.  The folks at NBC decided to release the story in a webisode format entitled Hard Knox, which is airing on the official Heroes website.  They have released 4 installments so far.  I’m not sure if more are coming, but I will definitely bring them to you as they become available.

Chapter 1: Choices

Matt Parkman wants street thug Knox to go straight, but it’s not so easy.

The votes have been tallied and Santiago is the people’s choice in Sprint’s “Create Your Own Hero” contest.  New webisodes starring the speedy soccer star will debut at NBC.com/heroesdestiny beginning next Monday, November 10.

Here’s a sneak peek at the series from our friends at NBC:

You might recognize the blonde woman in the promo as Det. Jill Kirkendall from NYPD Blue.  Yep, that’s Andrea Thompson.  From Andrea’s IMDB page I found that the titles of the webisodes in the “Destiny” series will be “Capture,” “Escape,” “Intervention,” and “Let Us Pray.”

IMDB lists Thompson’s character as “Serious Looking Woman.”  The other cast members listed are Roberto Urbina (Santiago), Lina Esco (Elisa), and Norma Maldonado (Iris).

Here’s a little more about Santiago, from NBC.com:
