Recap: Episode 3.14, “A Clear and Present Danger”

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

We find our Heroes about 7 weeks after the fall of Primatech and Pinehearst, trying to live normal lives under the radar.

Tracy arrives home and turns on the TV to see Nathan, who is now the Chair of the Senate Commission for Homeland Security, being interviewed about protecting American from dangerous people.  As she gets undressed, she notices that a window in her apartment is open, and suddenly the apartment is full of men in full combat gear who taser and capture her.  One of them makes a call.  “Tell Petrelli we got the first one.”

Hiro and Ando are back in Japan.  Hiro is still powerless, but Ando has his “supercharging” power.  Hiro has purchased an old fire station to use as Ando’s secret lair.  He tries to convince Ando to wear a spandex superhero costume but Ando says he’s not a superhero.  Hiro has also purchased a motorcycle (the Ando-cycle of course) and Ando is a little more willing to take that gift.  Hiro tells Ando that he will be able to keep track of him anywhere with his computer because of his GPS implant, as he surprises Ando and shoots one into Ando’s arm. Hiro tells him it’s OK because he shot himself with a GPS implant as well.

Peter is back in NYC, working as a paramedic.  He feels like he needs to save everyone, but he doesn’t have the powers he once had.

Recap, Episode 3.10, "The Eclipse, Part 1"

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

NUP_132200_0304 We open with images of all of the drawings Arthur made while in his trance: the eclipse; Hiro, Ando and Matt in a cornfield; Elle and Sylar kissing; HRG holding a bleeding Claire, etc.

Elle is still training Sylar to use his new electrical ability, when they are interrupted by Arthur. He tells "Gabriel" that he has an assignment: bring him Claire Bennet. Elle talks them into letting her tag along.

Arthur goes to Mohinder and shows him the picture of dead Claire.  They chat about the eclipse and how it may affect all of their powers. They realize that if Claire dies, there may be no hope for any of them.

At Team Company, Angela is sending everyone on assignments.  Nathan is to go to Haiti to find The Haitian.  Parkman is charged with finding Hiro.  Claire’s job is to stay safe and hidden because she is apparently The Catalyst. Claire’s not too happy about hiding, she wants to go out and be all heroic, but Angela brings in an agent to keep her in check…dear old dad.  HRG takes Claire to the home of Vortex Stephen Canfield where they can hide (why?) and decides to give her some training on how to fight.

Elle and Sylar head out to find Claire.  They first hit a rental car place (again, why?  Does Pinehearst not have any company cars?).  Elle seems to want to bring out the killer in Sylar. What exactly is her angle?

Recap, Episode 3.08, “Villains”

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

In Africa, Usutu sends Hiro on a vision quest (enhanced by the dung paste) which takes him back to past events surrounding our Villains.

Flint & Meredith

One year ago, Meredith Gordon (aka Claire’s birth mommy) was robbing stores with her brother, Flint. Company man Thompson finds them and captures Meredith, convincing her to become an agent for the Company.  Thompson takes her on a training mission to capture a homeless man who can turn his arm into solid metal.  After a successful mission, Thompson asks her to put the guy in a cell when she sees that Flint is also in a cell.  Flint says he was captured by an invisible man (nod to Claude) and they’ve told him they will make him an agent too.  Meredith knows Flint is too dumb to become an agent and decides to break baby bro out.  They end up on a train, but Thompson has followed.  Fire fight ensues, engulfing the train in flames.  They all jump to safety before the train crashes. Thompson again captures Meredith and asks her why she hates The Company so much. She tells him they killed her baby daughter. When he learns that she thinks her daughter is dead, he lets her go. They stand on a bridge overlooking the massive train disaster as we cut to a cheerleader rushing into the burning train wreck to save a man.  Oh look, it’s Claire.

Recap: Episode 3.07, “Eris Quod Sum”

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

NUP_131811_0169 When we last left Tracy and Nathan, they had escaped their restraints and Mohinder had thrown furniture at them.  Mohinder is mad that they won’t submit to more tests, so he rips Maya out of her cocoon and flies off to Pinehearst. Arthur uses his power sucking ability to suck the big bad black voodoo out of Maya. Maya, still completely freaked out by evil Mohinder, leaves town.  Mohinder agrees to help Arthur develop a Formula in hopes that it will fix him.  He says he will need test subjects.  No problem…Peter is there.

Elle breaks in to Chez Bennet in hopes of getting help for her short-circuiting powers from HRG. Lyle cools her off with a bucket of water and she tells Claire how Pinehearst contacted her and they decide to take field trip to see if Pinehearst can help them.  On the plane, Elle’s powers go crazy nearly crashing the plane.  Claire takes her hand and absorbs the shocks, saving the day.  She seems to feel a kinship with Elle now.

Recap: Episode 3.06, “Dying of the Light”

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

Hiro and Ando (and Daphne)

heroes-305-angels-monsters-191We start back in the bar, where Hiro stabbed Ando.  Just before the stabbing, Hiro teleports away to a magic shop and switches out the real sword for a trick sword and blood packets.  He then goes back two hours to warn Ando of the upcoming fake stabbing. It works, convincing Knox and Daphne that it was real. Daphne is angry and shocked but she show’s Hiro his first assignment: find the precog in Africa and bring him to Pinehearst.

Hiro and Ando teleport to the hut in Africa where Matt encountered the precog. Of course, being a precog, he has seen them coming and hits Hiro over the head with a shovel every time he tries to use his powers to sneak up on him.  Hiro and Ando decide to wait for him the old fashioned way and when he is finally settled in his hut for the night, they sneak up on him. But he still knows they are coming.  He shows them a painting of the Pinehearst logo surrounded by the faces of 4 men.  He tells them that they are the villains they seek.

Recap - Episode 3.05, "Angels and Monsters"

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

Nathan and Tracy

After spending the night with Tracy, Nathan gets up and, in a voiceover, questions who he is and what his purpose is.  Is he an Angel or a Monster, etc.  Linderman the Friendly Ghost shows up in the kitchen and tries to convince Nathan that he is on a mission from God.  Nathan is starting to doubt Linderman’s intentions. Tracy wakes up and interrupts them, though she thinks Nathan a little nutty because he’s talking to himself.

Nathan and Tracy later discuss why she was going to kill herself. She tells him the story of how she froze the reporter and she thinks she should turn herself him. Nathan is against it, saying that no one would believe her and that she cannot reveal her powers because they are on a mission from God. Tracy tells him that their powers didn’t come from God, but from a Doctor in Reseda, CA.

Later, Nathan and Tracy visit The Company…but more about that in a bit.

Future Mohinder is now mutated into a hideous creature who hides in the dark.  He tells Peter that Future Sylar is in the Bennet house in Costa Verde.

The Company vs The Villains

We open with a continuation of the scene in which Angela Petrelli reveals that she is Sylar’s mother.  She consoles Sylar and introduces him to Bridget, who has the power to see the history of an object, every person who has come into contact with it, just by touching it.  She says Bridget is there to "feed" Sylar…and feed she does.

HRG returns to The Company. He tells Angela that he is only there to recapture the escapees, then he is returning to his family. He asks for his old partner, but Angela tells him The Haitian is on an assignment for her.  She says she has a new partner for him and takes him to Sylar. HRG is opposed to the idea, but Angela insists, saying that Sylar is just misunderstood and needs some structure. She says she will send Sylar out with someone else if HRG doesn’t agree to partner with him.  HRG is left with no choice.

Knox (becomes stronger from people’s fear), Flint (the power of blue flame), The German (manipulates metal) and Jesse (sonic scream) decide to rob a bank.  The other villains don’t know that Peter is trapped inside Jesse’s body.

3x02episodetitle

Angela Petrelli has a dream in which she sees all of the Heroes dead in the Company hallway.  We see Hiro with his sword run through him, Claire with a severed head, etc. She turns around to see Adam Monroe, Tracy (or is it Niki, or Jessica, or maybe Gina), Maury Parkman, and Knox . Sylar comes up behind her. She wakes up.

Angela visits Future Peter at his apartment, which is full of strings like we saw in Isaac’s loft in season 1. She demands that he leave because he’s screwing with the future. She tells him that it is his fault that Sylar got to Claire because he told her not to come to Odessa.

The Petrellis, Parkman and a Niki look-alike:

We begin four years in the future with Peter Petrelli running through Manhattan. He finds dark haired, leather clad Claire. She points the gun at him, telling him she is going to end it. He says he can go back to fix everything.  Apparently those with abilities are hunted in the future.

Claire pulls the trigger, stating “I always loved you Peter” but he freezes time, takes the gun from her and teleports away. Future Peter arrives in present day Odessa where Nathan is giving his press conference at the Police Station. Future Peter shoots Nathan and Present Peter and Matt Parkman chase after the shooter.  Matt finds Present Peter in the bathroom holding the shooters cap and jacket…or is it.

Episode 2.8 Recap - ‘Four Months Ago’

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

heroes2x01_0001_1.jpg

We finally know what happened when Nathan and Peter flew up into the sky and we saw the big flash in last season’s finale. This episode took us back four months and also explained D.L.’s fate and the mystery of Adam Monroe. We also got a glimpse at why Maya was a wanted woman. Everything was pretty much as I had guessed it, but I’m glad to have those answers. (SPOILERS FOLLOW)

Episode 2.6 Recap - ‘The Line’

heroes2x01_0001_1.jpg

This episode seemed like filler to me. I was so hoping for something spectacular after last weeks Nathan vs. Matt romp. They aren’t doing much for the naysayers who are trashing Heroes all over the web now are they? They need to move this story along…and fast.

Well, as boring as it was, here’s what went down (Do I even need to say it? OK…SPOILERS FOLLOW): (more…)
