Watching Heroes

Since NBC elected to release their 65 week schedule in April, the traditional “upfronts” were scrapped and instead NBC/U threw a party, the NBC/Universal Experience. Attending were ad buyers, reporters and stars from all of NBC/U’s shows. In addition to all the partying, NBC made a few key announcements, most notably that Jimmy Fallon will be taking over for Conan O’Brien when he leaves Late Night to take over the Tonight Show. NBC entertainment chief Ben Silverman also confirmed that Nissan will continue to sponsor Heroes.

There were lots of familiar faces from Heroes making an appearance at the festivities. Take a look:

On April 20, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) held their annual Television Awards at The Palladium in London. Though the ceremony honors the best in British television, they also give out an award for the best international program airing in Britain. This year’s nominees included American favorites Family Guy, Californication, My Name is Earl and Heroes. Although they had some stiff competition, it’s no surprise (to me anyway) that Heroes took home the trophy that night.

Heroes creator and executive producer Tim Kring was on hand to accept the award, along with the Petrelli brothers, Milo Ventimiglia and Adrian Pasdar. The award was presented by British actor Alan Dale who you might know from his recent appearances as Charles Widmore on LOST, Bradford Meade on Ugly Betty and Dr. Aaron Copely on Torchwood. Milo and Adrian acted as presenters at the ceremony as well, announcing the award for Best Drama Serial. The award went to Britz.

Good news and bad news for Ali Larter. The good news: Ali has been honored with a 2008 Gracie Allen Award by the American Women in Radio & Television. The awards honor achievement in programming by, for and about women. Other honorees included Miley Cyrus, Maya Angelou, Kathy Griffin and Holly Hunter. National winners will be honored at the Gracies Gala on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at the New York Marriott Marquis. A complete list of winners can be found at www.awrt.org.

The bad news: E! Online is reporting that Ali was one of nearly 800 people exposed to the Hepatitis A virus at Socialista, a hotspot club in the West Village. A bartender at the club has tested positive and a health alert has been issued to anyone who was in the club on February 7, 8 and 11. Ali, along with other celebs, was a guest at Ashton Kutcher’s birthday party at Socialista on February 7.

Hayden Panettiere has signed on as the new spokesperson for Candie’s. Candie’s is a juniors clothing line sold exclusively in Kohl’s stores. Thomas Dekker, part of the Heroes season 1 cast, has called Hayden Panettiere’s relationship with Milo Ventimiglia “gross.” Dekker played Zach, best friend of Claire, and the videographer of her famous jump from the oil platform.

He can’t believe that Milo, 30, is dating his co-star, Hayden, 18. “I’m definitely surprised they’re together. For me, it would be a struggle to be with someone in such a different age range.”

Dekker, 20, who now stars as John Connor on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, made the comments in an interview with Life & Style magazine. ”I think it’s gross, to be perfectly honest. It’s kind of like if I were dating a 12-year-old!”

Dekker has also guest-starred on Shark and House M.D. and can be seen in the upcoming movies, Brothers of the Blood and From Within.

You might not be able to catch your favorite Heroes stars on the small screen right now, but over the next few months there are several movies coming out that will help fill that void.

Coming up on February 8, Milo Ventimiglia (Peter) stars in Pathology. He plays Ted Gray, a med student who finds himself caught up in a deadly game to see who can commit the perfect murder. Alyssa Milano stars as his girlfriend. Here’s a peek at the trailer:

For months they have denied rumors that they are dating, but People magazine is now reporting that Hayden Panettiere and Milo Ventimiglia are indeed a couple.

Rumors started after the Heroes World Tour this past summer when the not-yet-18-year-old Hayden and 30 year old Milo were photographed together several times looking very cozy. The actors denied that they were dating, and fellow cast members Adrian Pasdar, James Kyson Lee and Masi Oka downplayed the hype.

After the Emmy’s in September (and after Hayden turned 18), the pair were spotted walking hand-in-hand down the street and dancing together at a party. Again, they denied any romance.

Just a few weeks ago, the two Heroes stars were seen leaving the Jules Verne festival hand-in-hand and later joined the rest of the Heroes cast for dinner. Inside the restaurant, they were filmed by paparazzi and looked playful and cozy.

According to the People article Milo accompanied Hayden on a trip to visit her family in December. He hung out with her family and met her grandparents. They say he also gets along well with her younger brother, Jansen. “Hayden’s mom adores Milo. She thinks he’s so cute,” a family friend tells PEOPLE. “She tells her friends that he’s her boyfriend. She’s very proud.” The source also claims that the couple is very affectionate when they are together.

Hayden’s rep hasn’t officially confirmed anything yet though. So are they or aren’t they? Seems more and more like they are, doesn’t it…

Well if you like those, then you must check out the series of short films that Milo Ventimiglia (Peter Petrelli) has produced for American Eagle Outfitters. The series is entitled AE Winter Tales and features 5 short films, Home for the Holidays, Gifts, Misteltoe, Snowman and Devil’s Peak.

Each slightly irreverant short is narrated by a different celebrity, including Heroes own Kristen Bell (Elle), hip-hop star Lil Jon, Adrianne Palicki (Friday Night Lights) and Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz. Milo even takes a turn at narrating in Home for the Holidays, where he plays himself. Take a look:

This is the second series of films that Milo has produced for American Eagle. The first was the 13 episode series It’s a Mall World, which begain airing this past summer.

The cast of Heroes will be making a special appearance at the Closing Day Event of the Jules Verne Festival in Los Angeles later this month. Nine cast members plus Heroes creator Tim Kring and writer/producer Jeph Loeb will appear on stage.

The big news, though, is that they will be screening the secret unseen episode which is the first chapter of the 3rd volume, “Villains.”

Spike TV has announced the biggest televised celebration of horror, sci-fi, fantasy and comic books ever under one roof. “SCREAM 2007″ tapes this Friday, October 19, at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. It will premiere on Spike TV on Tuesday, October 23 from 10:00 PM-Midnight, ET/PT.

Heroes is nominated for several awards at “SCREAM 2007.” Here are the categories:
