Here’s a little of what some of the Heroes stars have been up to over the last month:
Hayden Panettiere attended Superbowl XLIII at Raymond James Stadium on February 1 in Tampa, Florida.
Milo Ventimiglia was on hand for a special screening of Kristen Bell’s new film, Fanboys, at the Clarity Theatre in Beverly Hills. Here he is with Chewbacca.
Here’s a roundup of some of the most recent interviews and blogs out there this week:
Milo Ventimiglia recently talked to the Associated Press about season 4 and some of the problems with the show. Here’s video from milo_fans:
Jack Coleman spoke to TV Guide about “Cold Wars” and how he feels about his “morally gray” character.
Speaking of Jack, he is blogging again over at TWOP. This week’s installment features his birthday celebration, his thoughts on Sean Penn and a little bit about “Cold Wars.”
As always, be sure to check out the Beaming Beeman blog for behind the scenes photos and insight into “Cold Wars” and director Seith Mann.
James Kyson Lee talked with BuddyTV about Volume 4 and where Ando is headed.
Also, in an interview with BuddyTV, Masi Oka asks fans to be patient with the show as Volume 4 develops.
Masi Oka recently spoke with The Futon Critic about his character, Bryan Fuller’s return and what to expect in the upcoming Fugitives volume. Masi addressed the ups and downs of the show and said that the 2nd half of season 3 would see the Heroes going back to the “fundamentals” of what made the show great – the central character, smaller stories, and big action.
Masi also revealed that Hiro and Ando will be reversing roles now that Ando has the powers and Hiro doesn’t. Hiro will attempt to turn Ando into a real superhero by becoming the Alfred to his Batman. “[Hiro] takes on pretty much the role of the butler. He becomes Alfred (laughs)… he tries to make a Batman out of Ando but Ando’s reluctant and he only cares about girls right now so Hiro tries to make him use the power for good to save other people and, of course, Hiro ends up getting in trouble and Ando ends up helping him."
Masi was asked if the cast was aware of what was going on behind the scenes that led to the exit of writer/producers Jeph Loeb and Jesse Alexander. "We weren’t aware at all. We had no idea. In many ways what happens in the writers room stays in the writers room. For us, we have a lot of respect for that process and it’s not our place to say anything. So it was actually really a shock for us to find out that was happening." Though he was sad to see Loeb and Alexander go, Masi said he is excited to have Bryan Fuller back on the show . "[Bryan] came back the day after he found out Pushing Daisies wasn’t coming back and he was so gung ho about this show and came back with all these ideas, so excited… Bryan coming in I think gave an uplifting momentum and energy and a big morale boost to everybody… there’s a great synergy in the room right now."
Here are some promotional images of the cast from the upcoming Super Bowl commercial. From these shots we see that Cristine Rose will also be included in the promo, and that Hayden is, of course, playing the Cheerleader.
NBC has released some footage that was shot during the filming of the Super Bowl promo ad. The video features interviews with Masi Oka, Greg Grunberg, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Jack Coleman (who will be coaching the team), and Ali Larter. We find out from Jack that Hayden Panettiere will be making an appearance in the ad as well. You can spot Hayden at the end of the footage throwing the football around with Milo and Adrian.
Check it out:
The ad will air sometime during the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 1. The game kicks off at 6:18 pm ET on NBC. I’ll post video of the commercial here as soon as it’s available so that our international friends (and those who don’t watch the Super Bowl) can view it.
Maski Oka, shown here with Beso Director of Marketing Dino Magis spent New Year’s Eve at the Beso party, hosted by Eva Longoria on December 31, 2008 in Hollywood.
Jamie Hector partied with Darelle Revis and a guest at La Zarza on December 22, 2008 in New York City.
I’m a little behind after taking nearly a week off. I have already “rounded up” the spoilers, and here’s a summary of the non-spoilery stories from the past few days. I still owe you a recap and I’ll have that (hopefully) a little later today.
Masi Oka and Milo Ventimiglia interviewed each other for AOL’s “Outside the Box.” You can see the full interview at this link.
UK based Digital Spy gives their opinion on whether or not Heroes has lost its mojo. Their verdict: No way!
Jimmy Jean-Louis talked with TV Guide about what we can expect from The Haitian’s upcoming storyline. He says that we will see a little bit of a backstory for his character and we will meet his brother.
Brea Grant did a live u-stream yesterday in which she answered questions that fans Twitter’d to her. She also spoke with Comic News Insider and This Week in Geek recently. You can find links to those interviews on her blog. That girl is everywhere! (Remember you can follow Brea, Greg Grunberg and Me on Twitter if you are so inclined)
Kristen Bell talked with A.V. Club about Heroes, Veronica Mars, Fanboys and more. She defends Heroes, saying that this season is “really good” and says she likes where they have taken her character.
In the latest edition of The Beaming Beeman, Greg Beeman interviews Heroes director Greg Yaitanes about episode 9. He, of course, has his usual behind-the-scenes photos up as well and, once again, Cristine Rose steals the show with the most awesome of photos:
NBC has started running new promo spots featuring various celebs and musicians doing their own variation of the NBC chimes. This is all part of their publicity campaign, "Chime In." In this one, Greg Grunberg and Masi Oka showcase their beatbox talents:
Masi Oka and Milo Ventimiglia will be interviewing each other for AOL TV’s new video series Outside the Box. The interview will take place on October 29 and they are looking for your ideas for interview questions for the guys.
So if you’ve been dying to ask them something, don’t miss your chance. To submit your question, go here and submit the form with your name, location and question. Some of the questions will be selected for use during the interview so ask a good one! You never know, Masi and Milo might just choose yours to be asked on the air.
The video interview will be available beginning November 17.

Wired.com calls on Heroes to drop the dead weight if the show wants to survive.
BuddyTV’s John Kubicek is fed up with Hiro’s stupidity this season. I have to agree with John. I keep hoping Maury Parkman is lurking in the background making Hiro do stupid things.
Check out part 2 of Jack Coleman’s chat with BuddyTV. He addresses Claude’s return, how long Sylar and HRG will be partners and whether or not he would like to see Noah Bennet get a power.
StarWars.com talked with Milo Ventimiglia about his love of Star Wars and the light saber fan films that he and his partners made, which opened up the Star Wars panel at Comic-Con.
Masi Oka chatted with the Australian site, Adelaide Now. He doesn’t really say anything that hasn’t been said before, but Masi fans might want to check it out.
Heroes Magazine is giving away a season two original script signed by the cast. Also up for grabs, five season two DVD box sets, and ten boxes of Heroes volume two trading cards. To enter, visit Titan Magazines.
EW’s Michael Ausiello had this tidbit in his latest “Ask Ausiello" column: “The show has a problem…The problem concerns a kid named David. He’s teenage angst incarnate and he’ll be featured in at least three episodes of the "Fugitives" arc. Casting is under way. “
The ODI posted this casting update for the upcoming webisodes: [OMINOUS MAN] Between 35 and 45, physically and vocally imposing…CO-STAR. OPEN TO ALL ETHNICITIES. ACTOR MUST BE AVAILABLE THURS. OCT. 9, 2008
The latest edition of The Beaming Beeman is short but sweet. Sweet in that it has tons of photos of course. Here’s one of my favorites (though there are some great cast candids). It’s the actors on rigs for the “frozen time scene” from episode 3:
BuddyTV posted part 1 of their 2 part interview with Jack Coleman today. Jack was asked whether we will get to see more of the backstory surrounding his involvement with the villains of Level 5. He said we would see a little and he revealed that episode 8 will be a sort of prequel to the pilot. “It sort of dovetails into the pilot, and you see how, for instance, HRG and Elle are complicit in sort of the creation of Sylar. It’s a really good origins episode of how Sylar got to be the way he is, and the relationship between HRG and Elle. It was hinted at last year when Suresh says to me, "You know her?" and it’s like, "Oh yeah." It’s never really explained in what form, how it is that I knew her, so you really see more of that. In that episode you will also see Knox and see where he came from, so you do see the villains there. But there’s not a tremendous amount of HRG and the villains back story.”
Also today, Kristin Dos Santos at E! Online gave us a little preview of what’s happening with Hiro and Ando in tonight’s episode and beyond:
The Haitian will take away all of Hiro’s memories beyond the age of 10, leaving Ando to be a sort of babysitter. “I try to get him to remember how he used to use his powers, so there’s a little bit of ‘Yoda trying to get Luke get his memory back.’, " says James Kyson Lee.
We learn this season that there are both environmental and physical elements for people to obtain abilities. The eclipse figures in, as does the Formula.
James says of the future in which we saw him zapping his buddy, Hiro, with red lighting: "If I zapped him, it’s probably for a good reason. But we don’t know if he’s turned bad, or if I’ve turned bad, or if he’s betrayed me." Could Hiro be the one who has turned into a villain?
Kristin also said today that the rumor is that not everyone will make it to the finale. Some character(s) will die this season, though just who may not have been decided yet. You can weigh in on who you’d like to see go at E! Online.
Masi Oka talked to The TV Addict about the critical backlash concerning Season 2, his new nemesis Daphne and many other aspects of Hiro. You can find the interview at TheTVAddict.com.
Masi also talked to Comic Book Resources. He said the future where Hiro saw himself being killed by Ando may have been "misunderstood." You can also find interviews with Masi at MovieWeb and iFMagazine.
Tim Kring has been named "Master of Sci-Fi" by TV Week writer Josef Adalian.
The latest installment of The Beaming Beeman features and interview with writer Joe Pokaski as well as information on how they re-worked a few scenes in episode 3.03 to save money. He revealed that the woman making the exchange with The Haitian is actually Sendhil Ramamurthy’s real-life wife, Olga Sosnovska. The blog also, of course, features Greg Beeman’s awesome behind-the-scenes photos.
A casting call has gone out for a Webisode character. ESTABAN is an athletic hispanic male, age 21. He will be Santiago’s friend and teammate.
Zachary Quinto talked to Crave Online about Sylar. He described him as being very conflicted this season and talked a bit about whether Sylar will go good or become more evil.
For all you Trekkies, Zach also did an interview with SFX about his upcoming role as Spock. TrekWeb.com has a few excerpts in which Zach says he felt no pressure from the 40 year history of Spock and created his own version for the movie.
Angela Petrelli continues her domination of the internet with a new TV Guide interview. Angela’s portrayer, Cristine Rose, talks about the newest member of her family and how she interpreted Angela. She also reveals that we will see her in scenes with Malcolm McDowell and Robert Forster, who will play Arthur Petrelli.
And speaking of Cristine, check out this video interview and the accompanying article from BuddyTV:
NBC has released a set of promotional images from the upcoming 3rd episode of the season, "One of Us, One of Them." Check out Sylar looking all FBI! (click to enlarge)
