Heroes Roundup for March 3

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

12285787451press927200781939AM The Los Angeles Times has a piece on their site today about the Twitter phenomenon and how it has caught on with celebrities. Heroes stars Greg Grunberg and Brea Grant are featured in the piece that also mentions James Kyson Lee, David H. Lawrence XVII, Propmaster James and Makeup Artist Wendi.

Speaking of Twitter, Grunny caused quite a stir with a couple of his tweets last week.  He first mentioned that it was hard to wrap for the season not knowing if any or all of the cast and crew would be back, then quickly backtracked and assured fans that the show was coming back.  Now there are articles on the web questioning the fate of Heroes. Among those who have mentioned it this week are TV Guide and E! Online’s Kristin Dos Santos.

Never fear though, TV by the Numbers eerily accurate Renew/Cancel index shows Heroes safe for renewal.  They say that NBC’s horrible scripted line up will work in Heroes favor, but it might be facing big budget cuts.  "It…may not look like the current show, but I think it will be back."

David H. Lawrence XVII was interviewed by Chicago’s Pioneer Local. In the article, he mentions that he will appear in the first Bryan Fuller episode "Cold Snap" on March 23 and it "will be one that’s going to be talked about for years.  It’s a romantic scene, a poignant scene, it is the heart of whole show," he said. "It’s so beautiful, I’m tearing up now, which says something because I’m usually jaded. It’s why Bryan Fuller is in such big demand. You’ll know the scene when it happens; it’s just amazing."

Heroes Roundup for February 27

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Here’s a roundup of some of the most recent interviews and blogs out there this week:

Milo Ventimiglia recently talked to the Associated Press about season 4 and some of the problems with the show.  Here’s video from milo_fans:

Jack Coleman spoke to TV Guide about “Cold Wars” and how he feels about his “morally gray” character.

Speaking of Jack, he is blogging again over at TWOP.  This week’s installment features his birthday celebration, his thoughts on Sean Penn and a little bit about “Cold Wars.”

As always, be sure to check out the Beaming Beeman blog for behind the scenes photos and insight into “Cold Wars” and director Seith Mann.

James Kyson Lee talked with BuddyTV about Volume 4 and where Ando is headed.

Also, in an interview with BuddyTV, Masi Oka asks fans to be patient with the show as Volume 4 develops.

Heroes Roundup for February 4

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

59958_HeroesS3xGen_05_122_191lo The latest edition of The Beaming Beeman is up with the usual episode insight and behind-the-scenes photos.

There is an excellent article about James Kyson Lee at MochiMag.com. James talks about how he got started in showbiz.  Excellent read.

io9.com has published a list of 63 Reasons You Should Give Heroes One More Chance. Some of them are pretty clever.

Have you heard that Heroes alums Jayma Mays (Charlie) and Jessalyn Gilsig (Meredith) have both been cast in a new comedy for Fox?  Both ladies will star in Glee, an hourlong comedy that centers on Will, a thirtysomething Spanish teacher at an Ohio high school who has the daunting task of taking over the school’s glee club, which has become a heaven for outcasts.  The show has been picked up to series for next season.

In this week’s Mega Buzz at TVGuide.com, they again address the question on whether Ali Larter and/or Hayden Panettiere are wanting to leave the show.  Their answer:  “One of the key Heroes dies at the end of this volume, so that would be an easy out. But Larter recently said she’s "100 percent part of Heroes" and Panettiere repped hard for the show at the Super Bowl. We all know actresses never lie. Also, we all know the fate of the world relies on the cheerleader, so why would NBC let her go?”

Also in that same Mega Buzz, Heroes (or more precisely, the Heroes Super Bowl promotion) was Matt Mittovich’s Mega Rave:  “I know many of you have derided them as cheesy, but I loved NBC’s Super Bowl promos involving the Heroes. The football game offered a great showcase for every character’s ability (e.g. Hiro freezing time to grab the ball), while the ‘Feelin’ Alright?’ sing-along (with stars of Chuck and Medium) was a blast, if only just to see Sylar look at us askew and bellow a few notes.”

Don’t forget to keep checking our Ratings and Reviews post.  I’m updating it as I find more reviews.  I just added another from io9.com this morning.

Spoilers from Jack Coleman and E!

Monday, October 6th, 2008

NUP_131140_0040 BuddyTV posted part 1 of their 2 part interview with Jack Coleman today.  Jack was asked whether we will get to see more of the backstory surrounding his involvement with the villains of Level 5.  He said we would see a little and he revealed that episode 8 will be a sort of prequel to the pilot.  “It sort of dovetails into the pilot, and you see how, for instance, HRG and Elle are complicit in sort of the creation of Sylar.  It’s a really good origins episode of how Sylar got to be the way he is, and the relationship between HRG and Elle.  It was hinted at last year when Suresh says to me, "You know her?" and it’s like, "Oh yeah."  It’s never really explained in what form, how it is that I knew her, so you really see more of that.  In that episode you will also see Knox and see where he came from, so you do see the villains there.  But there’s not a tremendous amount of HRG and the villains back story.”

Also today, Kristin Dos Santos at E! Online gave us a little preview of what’s happening with Hiro and Ando in tonight’s episode and beyond:

  • The Haitian will take away all of Hiro’s memories beyond the age of 10, leaving Ando to be a sort of babysitter.   “I try to get him to remember how he used to use his powers, so there’s a little bit of ‘Yoda trying to get Luke get his memory back.’, " says James Kyson Lee.
  • We learn this season that there are both environmental and physical elements for people to obtain abilities.  The eclipse figures in, as does the Formula.
  • James says of the future in which we saw him zapping his buddy, Hiro, with red lighting: "If I zapped him, it’s probably for a good reason. But we don’t know if he’s turned bad, or if I’ve turned bad, or if he’s betrayed me."  Could Hiro be the one who has turned into a villain?

Kristin also said today that the rumor is that not everyone will make it to the finale.  Some character(s) will die this season, though just who may not have been decided yet. You can weigh in on who you’d like to see go at E! Online.

‘Heroes’ Roundup for 10.05.08

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

kristen-bell-heroes-10 Kristen Bell told The Montreal Gazette that her character, Elle, will be involved in several flashbacks this season: "When I came onto the scene last year, it was very out of the gates, with a lot of attitude," she said. "They had told me her previous back story, but I didn’t really get a chance to show any of that on camera. Clearly, people hurt people and she was very damaged. We are doing a lot of flashbacks now that will … give you a lot of insight into the character."

The Idaho Statesman talked to their hometown boy, Blake Shields, about his role as Flint.  He gave a little insight into his character: "He’s a hardcore dude, even without his power. He’s a rough and tough guy, plus he’s a complete psychopath. I don’t want to say cold-blooded, he’s not that. He’s more like a partyer," Shields said. "He’s just having a good time doing crime. And he kills for fun. The challenge as an actor is to try to not judge that and actually bring some complexity to the character and make it real, human, rather than just play a bad guy, which is boring."

Malcolm McDowell did an interview with HoboTrashCan about his career and his work on Heroes.  Malcolm said he has been told that his character is still dead. "I was doing a scene with Nathan. I noticed he had a speck on his beautiful black suit. I went over to flick it off his shoulder. They went, ‘Cut, what are you doing? No, no, you can’t touch him; you’re dead,’ which made me roll about with laughter."

Ashley Crow, James Kyson Lee, and Stephen Tobolowsky have been announced as guests for the upcoming "Eclipse 2" Heroes convention in the UK. The convention is scheduled for November 14-16 this year.  To find out more, visit http://www.massiveevents.co.uk/eclipse2/.
