More Casting News | Greg Grunberg Films ‘LOST’ episode

Monday, May 5th, 2008

96headshotsmall We previously reported some casting rumors for Season 3 and, as it often turns out with rumors, one of them has proven to be false. According to TV Guide’s Ausiello, it won’t be Wynn Everett playing the speedy Joy, but Brea Grant instead.

Brea is best known for her role as Landry’s rebound girl, Jean Brinnel, on Friday Night Lights. She has also guest starred on Cold Case. Brea will be playing Joy, described as “quick on her feet — and adept at getting herself into and out of trouble.” Her power of speed apparently rivals that of The Flash and it is believed Joy will be one of the many Villains we will see in the next story arc. One of her first encounters with our Heroes, will be when she meets Hiro in a museum. He asks her if she has powers and if she is trying to steal some art. She convinces him that she’s not stealing, and then makes off with a bunch of paintings. (more…)

Heroes Picture Post for Friday, April 4

Friday, April 4th, 2008

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve done a picture post, so let’s catch up with a few of the events the stars of Heroes have been spotted at over the last month.

Ali Larter attended the Inaugural Avant-Garde Gala hosted by W Magazine & LACMA at LACMA BCAM on March 8 in Los Angeles. She showed off her new engagement ring to photographers.

Heroes News for the Week of March 31 to April 5

Friday, April 4th, 2008

47269_coverhq_122_512lo22 Sorry for the lack of news lately but besides the big NBC announcements that I posted yesterday, there hasn’t really been a lot of Heroes news to report over the last couple of weeks. I’ve scoured the internet and found a few tidbits about some of the cast to bring you, though and I’m hoping to get a picture post up a little later today.

Kristen Bell graces this months cover of Cosmo. There are some fabulous photos of Kristen inside the magazine as well as a great interview. You can see scans here.

Hayden Panettiere has signed on for two more movie projects. The first is an adaptation of the Rachel Cohn/David Levithan novel Naomi and Ely’s No Kiss List. Hayden will play Naomi, a New Yorker who creates a "No Kiss List" with her gay BFF, Ely. The friendship becomes strained, however, when Ely plants a big one on Naomi’s boyfriend. Hayden will also voice Alpha the wolf in the animated family film, Alpha and Omega. Justin Long will co-star as Omega.

TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello reports that Mohinder may face some competition in the job as narrator. Tim Kring is rumored to be looking for an Australian Aboriginal actor in his fifties to appear in multiple episodes as a storyteller with great wisdom and a soft, soothing voice.

And finally, Ausiello recently talked to Greg Grunberg, who honestly seems like the nicest guy. Greg talked a bit about Heroes and his work with charities supporting Epilepsy and also revealed the cast of his upcoming movie, Group Sex. I can’t get the embed to work out quite right so check it out here.

Heroes star Greg Grunberg will be joined by Hugh Laurie (House), James Denton (Desperate Housewives), Bob Guiney (Trick My Trucker), Bonnie Somerville (Cashmere Mafia, NYPD Blue) and the other members of the Band from TV for an appearance on American Idol’s "Idol Gives Back" special. According to an article from The National Ledger, Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher will also perform with the band. The show airs April 9 at 9pm EST.

They will join Bono, Brad Pitt, Reese Witherspoon, Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, Fergie, Chris Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, Annie Lennox, John Legend and Snoop Dogg in supporting the charity special. The funds raised through the special benefit various U.S. charities that deliver support to underprivileged children in the US and abroad. Last year’s program raised $76 million.

Hayden Panettiere Promotes Voting on Larry King Live | Greg Grunberg at National Walk for Epilepsy

Monday, March 3rd, 2008

13113180451press33200812413PM Two of our favorite Heroes are promoting causes dear to their hearts. They both sent out MySpace bulletins with the info:

Hayden Panettiere, who is a spokeperson for "Declare Yourself," will be a guest on Larry King Live tonight, March 3. The topic is the importance of voting. She will be joined by Rosario Dawson, Lance Armstrong, Wycelf Jean and Josh Groban. Larry King Live airs on CNN at 9/8C.

As you probably know, Greg Grunberg’s son Jake has epilepsy and Greg is very involved in causes to help Jake and others affected by epilepsy. Greg will be taking his "Crazy Brain Waves" team to the National Walk for Epilepsy on the National Mall in Washington, DC on March 29, 2008. He is looking for others who want to join his team and walk with him. If you can’t be there in person, you can do a "virtual walk" online to help out. If you are interested in walking or donating money to Greg’s team, visit the "Crazy Brain Waves" team page.

"The More You Know" PSA’s featuring ‘Heroes’ Stars

Friday, February 29th, 2008

180px-The_More_You_Know NBC has been running “The More You Know” public service announcements for over 19 years now. If you’re like me, then you DVR everything you watch and probably fast-forwarded right through the ads featuring the stars of Heroes. I just discovered some of the commercials on the “The More You Know” website.

The latest campaign focused on issues such as pollution, global warming and recycling and featured Heroes stars Noah Gray-Cabey, Greg Grunberg, Ali Larter, Masi Oka, Adrian Pasdar, and Sendhil Ramamurthy.

In addition to the “green” campaign, Heroes stars have helped spread a variety of messages. Ali Larter was featured in an anti-violence spot, Sendhil Ramamurthy did one about drunk driving, Adrian Pasdar’s PSA was about monitoring what your kids watch on TV, Masi Oka encouraged reading, and Greg Grunberg and Noah Gray-Cabey promoted internet safety in their spots.

You can find out more about the campaign and watch some of the past PSA’s at http://www.themoreyouknow.com/.

Heroes Nominated for 5 Saturn Awards

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

may52005saturn.jpgHeroes may have been snubbed by the more conventional awards this year, but the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films (best known as the Saturn Awards) did not forget about them.

The show has received 5 nominations in 4 categories: Best Network Television Series, Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series (Greg Grunberg and Masi Oka both got nods), Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series (Hayden Panettiere) and Best Television Series on DVD.

Heroes was a big winner last year, taking home awards for Best Network Series as well as acting awards for Masi Oka and Hayden Panettiere. Will this year be as good to them? We’ll have to wait and see. (more…)

Greg Grunberg on Last Night’s “LOST” (sort of)

Friday, February 8th, 2008

Like many fans of Heroes, I’m also a huge fan of LOST and I’m thrilled to be watching new episodes. The show never fails to shock me and last night was no exception. In addition to all the big shockers, I was surprised to see Greg Grunberg playing a part in the storyline again.

You might remember Greg as the pilot of the ill-fated Oceanic flight 815. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately for Heroes fans) his role was very short-lived. He was found still alive inside the cabin of the plane in the first episode by Jack, Kate and Charlie and managed to tell them that the plane was a thousand miles off course when they crashed before he was yanked out of the cockpit by ”something” and his bloody corpse hung from a tree.

‘Heroes’ Cast Picture Post!

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

Heroes stars are keeping busy during the strike. In addition to work on other projects, they are staying hot in the social scene by attending parties and premieres. Here’s a few photos I’ve found from the past couple of weeks:

Zachary Quinto, Greg Grunberg, Noah-Gray Cabey and Masi Oka attended the premiere of Cloverfield at the Paramount Pictures Lot in Los Angeles on January 16.

Heroes Stars Upcoming Movie Projects

Monday, January 28th, 2008

You might not be able to catch your favorite Heroes stars on the small screen right now, but over the next few months there are several movies coming out that will help fill that void.

Coming up on February 8, Milo Ventimiglia (Peter) stars in Pathology. He plays Ted Gray, a med student who finds himself caught up in a deadly game to see who can commit the perfect murder. Alyssa Milano stars as his girlfriend. Here’s a peek at the trailer:

Greg Grunberg Fans - Band from TV Gig on January 10

Tuesday, January 8th, 2008

14556267451press182008100634PM.jpgHeroes Matt Parkman (and my MySpace buddy), Greg Grunberg, has posted a bulletin alerting fans of a Band from TV gig this Thursday night, January 10.

They will be playing at 3 of Clubs located at Vine and Santa Monica in Hollywood. Tickets are $5 at the door and the show starts at 10:00 pm.

If you live in the L.A. area, be sure to go out and cheer on Greg and his fellow Band from TV members and all the worthy causes they support.

Heroes Champion Good Causes - Part 2

Monday, January 7th, 2008

On Friday we told you about the worthy causes that Zachary Quinto, Masi Oka and Noah Gray-Cabey are supporting. Today we’ll look at a few more of the cast’s favorite charities:

grunberg_larter.jpgAs a father of a son with epilepsy, Greg Grunberg has put his heart and soul into helping the Pediatric Epilepsy Project (PEP). A portion of the proceeds from his Band From TV performances benefit PEP and he is involved with other projects, such as the Epilepsy Freedom Walk, as well. The Pediatric Epilepsy Project funds reasearch as well as helping improve the lives of children with epilepsy. You can find out more about them at www.4pep.org/

Ali Larter has most recently been involved with the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty. In fact, she went so far as to do her own hair for the Emmy’s last year - and she looked gorgeous as always! Dove’s Self-Esteem Fund distributes resources to enable and empower women and girls to embrace a broad definition of beauty and provides resources to organizations that foster a broader definition of beauty. For more information visit http://www.campaignforrealbeauty.com/.

And finally, Hayden Panettiere has a couple of organizations she is currently working with. I’m sure you all heard about her run-in with the Japanese government during her efforts with the Save the Whales Again! campaign. Save the Whales Again! is hoping to reignite the passion of the 1970’s campaign and help alleviate the problems facing marine mammals such as pollution, global warming, loss of habitat, lack of food, over-fishing, entanglement in nets, ship strikes, and whaling. You can find out more at http://www.savethewhalesagain.com/. Hayden has also been involved with the Declare Yourself campaign this year. This effort encourages young people to register and vote. Many young celebrities have been involved with the campaign. You can get all the lowdown at http://www.declareyourself.com/.

If you know of another Heroes cast member who is involved with a charitable cause, leave us a comment and let us know!

Official MySpace Pages of the Heroes Stars
