The True Hero on NBC’s Heroes

Monday, March 19th, 2007

For many of you, Peter Petrelli or Hiro Nakamura have been the standout Heroes of NBC’s hit show Heroes. I’ve done a little digging and uncovered this scoop, that reveals the true heroe of the Heroes saga. Check it out here.

c’mon, you have to admit it IS funny.

The Shapeshifter Theory

Tuesday, March 6th, 2007

I so called this one, or at least that’s my story. I’m sticking to it.

Several days ago I was having a discussion with Chrispian about posssible scenerios for the NY destruction. During our period of specualation I told him that I thought that possibly, at some time in the future, Sylar would run across a shapeshifter and absorb their powers. Then, while impersonating Peter, he would be the one to detonate. This would fullfill Isaacs prophecy and take out Sylar in one fell swoop. Up until last episode we had no shapeshifter, but HRG’s new partner took care of that for me. So what do you think of this theory? I’m pretty pleased with it.

Defending Our Honor

Friday, March 2nd, 2007

It seems one of my fellow 451press bloggers takes exception to our beloved program, Heroes.

Perhaps you care about NBC’s idiotically stupid Heroes* and the inexplicably popular Spider-Man movies, but I could not possibly care less.

It seems he’d prefer to watch procedural dramas about lawyers, being a lawyer himself. Talk about living on the wild side.

I invite you to head on over and tell him how much you love Heroes and help me to defend out shows honor!

Serials on TV (or the Magic dust)

Friday, February 16th, 2007

Popmatters.com has a nifty little article on the current experiment of TV shows and serialized content. They make some pretty interesting points regarding the slowness of audiences to commit to serial style programs and how with the popularity of shows like 24 and Lost, people are pretty tied up with favorites. this tidbit was for all my Heroes peeps out there:

“Heroes (NBC): The top new show this fall, drawing 14.4 million viewers, and the only series that really has that magic dust: hopeful, romantic and filled with great characters. As complicated as the long-run plot seems to be, there are shorter stories and scenes every week with big, satisfying payoffs.

Magic Dust…nice.

Unexpected Synopsis

Thursday, February 15th, 2007

The next episode for Heroes, Unexpected, finally introduces us to the character Hana Gitelman, who made her first appearance in the wireless series in the graphic novels. Hana’s ability to intercept and transmit electronic information makes her an intersting addition to the Heroes cast.

Here’s the lowdown from TV.com:

Peter learns that he and Claude may have been betrayed. Matt’s reunited with the radioactive Ted Sprague and Hana Gitelman a woman with “wireless” mental abilities. Due to Linderman’s influence Niki and Nathan meet again, this time under very different circumstances. After someone Hiro knows dies, he makes a tough choice about his mission. Claire can no longer hold back her anger towards HRG.

Chrispian has also recommended Claires adopted mom as an addition to the deadpool for this season, due to her obvious scrambling from multiple encounters with the Haitian. I think he may be onto something.

New Heroes Tagline: “No one is safe”

Monday, February 12th, 2007

MovieWeb is reporting Heroes has a new tagline: “No one is safe”, and after Sylar’s trip to the Bennets home it sure seems like a very apt tagline.

Heroes Creator Tim Kring talks about the “catch phrases” so far:

Tim Kring, creator and executive producer of the series says the original “buzz” phrase from the show, “Save the cheerleader, save the world,” was not necessarily intended to be tagline. “Well, the ‘Save the cheerleader’ was just a line of dialogue from the script. And it caught the imagination of a few people over at NBC in the promo department, and they ran with that,” he explains. “And so from then on, we started thinking, ‘Well, what could we do for this next pod of episodes?’ And sure enough, the script already had another line in it that we also liked. So it’s not like we fished around for lines to impose onto the show. They just sort of come naturally out of the show.” And the latest tagline from Heroes is “No one is safe.”

Who Is Claire’s Father?

Thursday, February 1st, 2007

The writers of heroes must have serious daddy issues. Peter and Nathan’s father was a corrupt politician, Claire’s adopted father may be one of the villains on the show (HRG), and Hiro’s pops (George Takei) seems to have some issues with his son. But the real question this season is “Who is Claire’s Father”?

The top running theories are Matt Parkman, Nathan Petrelli and Mr. Linderman. Some people still insist it is HRG himself, despite all evidence to the contrary. HRG is NOT her real father. Lets talk a little about the top three.

The argument that the father is Matt Parkman is the father was largely fueled by the following picture:

parkman.jpg

Matt Parkman:
In the scene where Claire’s mother called Claire’s father he was wearing a purple shirt and had a watch and ring on. The watch and ring is what most people point out when they think Matt is the father. I don’t think he’s her father. Can you see Matt wearing a freshly pressed purple shirt sitting behind a very nice desk in a very nice office? I guess he’s hiding that in his secret lair behind all the broken plumbing in his low rent apartment on his police salary.

Nathan Petrelli:
Nathan is a clear favorite among fans and I consider him a very likely candidate to be Claire’s father. It would further the story, create more tension at him for Nathan and possibly give him a stronger tie to what happens. It would also more closely link Claire to the main characters on a more personal level. In the last episode she was joking with Zach about finding an Uncle and her interaction with Peter could very well have been that kind of relationship making that remark a hint about the father. Some people have speculated that Claire and Peter would be love interests on the show, but Peter is 26 and Claire is 15. Though she is in Texas, I still don’t see that happening. Nathan is very likely candidate as the father.

Mr. Linderman:
It’s about time Linderman was introduced as more than just a guy behind the scenes and according to TV Guide Linderman will be introduced soon and by the end of Feb. sweeps they will reveal Claire’s father. Tim Kring (Heroes creator) has said that it would be important to cast the right person as Linderman and as of yet I haven’t seen anyone on IMDB or any other rumor sites as who it would be. Some people have speculated that Eric Robers would be playing Linderman but he’s listed as playing someone who works for HRG. Every character has a connection to Linderman so far except for Claire and this would give her the best connection possible. It could explain his obsession with all things Heroes and why he seems to be collecting all information he can, maybe he’s looking for his daughter. Mom has abilities and I’m betting dad will to. I think Linderman is my favorite as Claire’s father.

We’ll find out very soon, and I can’t wait. Who do you think Claire’s father is?

Update: As of the most recent episode, “Distractions”, Claire’s father has been revealed to be non other than Nathan Petrelli which means pretty much everyone is connected in some way or another.

Synopsis: The fix

Monday, January 29th, 2007

According to TVGuide.com, here is what we can expect from tonights episode of Heroes:

Hiro’s search for the sword takes an unexpected turn when his father (George Takei) appears; Claire decides to search for her birth parents; D.L. works to deal with his family duties; and Isaac dedicates himself to saving New York from Peter.

I’m looking forward to seeing George Takei as Hiro’s father. Hopefully there will be some really great chemistry between the two.

The Heroes Deadpool

cast pic
Ok. Speculation time folks. With the announcement of a character being killed off before the end of the season, I’d like to forward my top 5 likely candidates. One of the stipulations for my selections is that the character had to have been around from the beginning, since that was what they mentioned in the article. So, here we go.

1. Zach
This is kinda of a easy guess, but is mainly based on the speculation that the actor, Thomas Dekker, won’t be back for the next season.

2. Horn Rimmed-Glasses Man
I’m running with this one because with the revelation of Linderman, we may not need him as the bad guy heavy anymore. (This fact is dispute by my buddy Chrispian, who isn’t convinced in the ‘bad guyness’ of Linderman.)

3. Ando
I’m gonna throw Ando in here, because although he is well liked and his death would upset quite a few people, he is also one of the few non-powered characters from early on and may eventually become moot. Ando was primarily Hiro’s translator, as Hiro becomes more fluent, Ando becomes less important.

4. The Haitian
The Haitian makes the list because of his betrayal of HRG. It think that HRG might not be forgiving of someone betraying him and causing a rift between him and Claire. This is assuming I’m wrong about him getting wacked.

5. Niki
I might have went for Isaac with this last one, since his death was predicted by a time traveling Hiro, but I’m opting for Niki. Niki is by far, the most violent character on the sshow and seems to be occupying brain space with here dead sister Jessica. I think that she might go out in a blaze of glory by the end of season one, maybe in an attempt on one of the other heroes or Linderman.

Disagree? Feel free to load up the comments with your top 5’s and let’s compare note.

And to cap this post off, I leave you with the synopsis for Tonight’s Episode, Godsend. From Tvguide.com:

A new hero (Christopher Eccleston) arrives on the scene; Nathan and Simone try to help Peter, who has been comatose for two weeks; Hiro goes on a quest to find the samurai sword seen in Isaac’s painting. Also, Horn-Rimmed Glasses concentrates his efforts on taking care of Sylar (Zachary Quinto); Claire struggles to come to terms with the fact that she has been living a lie; Niki is held and questioned by police.

Thursday, December 14th, 2006

Sylar and Eden
BuddyTV has a some info on Heroes lead writer Bryan Fuller and some work he’ll be doing for ABC:

Executive Producers Dan Jinks and Bruce Cohen, who produced the feature films American Beauty and Big Fish, have drafted Heroes lead writer Bryan Fuller to pen their ABC commissioned pilot “Pushing Daisies”.

Head on over to get the rest of the scoop.

Ok, so it’s not Heroes news but…

Thursday, December 14th, 2006

How cool is this. George Lucas will be the Grand Marshal of the tournament of Roses Parade and he’s bringing a few friends.

Not long from now, in our very own galaxy, the “Star Wars Spectacular will bring an intergalactic spirit — and 200 storm troopers — to the 118th annual Tournament of Roses parade.

This might be the first one of these I ever watch.
