I was looking at somw fan art for Heroes, and came across some awesome work by an artist that goes by the name of ~ratscape on Deviant Art.

These images are tremendous and very inspiring. Definitely a must see for any

If Sylar had Killed Claire…

Sylar and glass

One of the major plot points being dealt with in the graphic novel and in the upcoming episodes, are Hiro’s attempts at manipulating the timeline to prevent the explosion. The current season runs along the thread where Hiro has set Peter into motion to save Claire. Here are a few things that would have been altered, had Peter not been there to save the cheerleader:

  1. Sylar would have the ability to heal. They point out in the graphic novel that Hiro stabbed him once and stopped him, but Sylar recovered. This was his primary motivation for trying to stop Sylar from getting her.
  2. HRG would still be at Primatech instead of trying to destroy the tracker that Primatech uses to keep tabs on tagged heroes. His need to protect Claire would be gone and he would be after Sylar for killing her.
  3. This also means that the Haitian would still be working for Primatech
  4. Ted would have detonated in Texas, because Claire would not have been there to stop his chain reaction.
  5. Peter would be dead (assuming that the confrontation with Sylar still occurred), because he would not have been able to recover from the glass shard in the skull
  6. The Petrelli family dynamic would have altered, because Nathan would have never learned about Claire being alive.

Will Claire surviving be the key to stopping Sylar and the explosion in NYC?

TVGuide.com’s Final Countdown

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

TVGuide.com has a great article by Michael Logan. It leads into episode 19, which we’ve just seen, but has some really great insider info into the final 5 (not Cylons) episodes of Season 1. He talks quite a bit about how dark the next few episode are going to be and how difficult it was for the cast to make the transition:

April 23 also brings the death of yet another hero, but that’s nothing compared to the body count on April 30. That episode, titled “String Theory,” is set five years in the future. “It’s a cautionary tale — a look at what will happen if no one stops the bomb,” Kring says. America has become a veritable police state, and people with special abilities are being hunted down, arrested and registered with the feds. Nathan (Adrian Pasdar) is president, Mohinder is his chief medical adviser, and Matt (Greg Grunberg) is head of Homeland Security. Claire (Hayden Panettiere) has gone undercover as a greasy-spoon waitress. Niki (Ali Larter) has turned stripper and is romancing Peter, who has an unexplained scar running across his face. And in the hour’s wildest twist, sweet, funny Hiro (Masi Oka) has become the country’s most wanted terrorist.

The fanboy’s new look — soul patch, samurai ponytail, military-style jacket and boots — is downright scary. “Present-day Hiro gets to meet future Hiro and realizes, ‘That’s not who I want to become,’” Oka says. “Mentally, I have to go to a very different place with this. No one on the set wants to talk to me. I’m giving out that vibe. No jokes.”

No one’s laughing at Matt, either. “His power in the government really goes to his head,” reports Grunberg. “He’s got the Haitian (Jimmy Jean-Louis) working for him so he can stop anybody’s powers when he needs to. He literally kills off several popular characters in this episode. It’s awesome.” But, truth be told, the actor is a little worried about Hiro worship. “I really slap the crap out of Masi,” Grunberg says. “He’s the star of the show, and here I am kicking his ass mercilessly. The fans are gonna hate me!”

An excellent article for sure. you can read it in it’s entirety here.

Theories on NBC

Thursday, April 5th, 2007

Do you have some theories aabout Sylar or Claire? Do you want to share them with the world? Head on over to NBC and check out viewer submitted theory videos. Pretty interesting stuff.

Online Content Causes a Stir with NBC

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007

It seems that the production of online webisodes has caused a little bit of drama over at NBC Universal.

NBC Uni said the WGA has asked showrunners on “The Office,” “Heroes,” “Crossing Jordan” and “Battlestar Galactica” to refuse to provide materials for use in show webisodes or for other Web-based content. NBC Uni is asking the NLRB to force showrunners to provide the requested materials and argues that such cooperation is mandatory under existing guild contracts.

This bit of news affects our beloved Heroes as well. I guess it was only aa matter of time before this type of situation came to a head. With Television shows becoming more multimedia to reach out to the largest possible audiences, some one was bound to get bent over potentially lost money. Hopefully this won’t affect us as viewers or cause any interruption in our regularly scheduled programming.

The True Hero on NBC’s Heroes

Monday, March 19th, 2007

For many of you, Peter Petrelli or Hiro Nakamura have been the standout Heroes of NBC’s hit show Heroes. I’ve done a little digging and uncovered this scoop, that reveals the true heroe of the Heroes saga. Check it out here.

c’mon, you have to admit it IS funny.

The Shapeshifter Theory

Tuesday, March 6th, 2007

I so called this one, or at least that’s my story. I’m sticking to it.

Several days ago I was having a discussion with Chrispian about posssible scenerios for the NY destruction. During our period of specualation I told him that I thought that possibly, at some time in the future, Sylar would run across a shapeshifter and absorb their powers. Then, while impersonating Peter, he would be the one to detonate. This would fullfill Isaacs prophecy and take out Sylar in one fell swoop. Up until last episode we had no shapeshifter, but HRG’s new partner took care of that for me. So what do you think of this theory? I’m pretty pleased with it.

Defending Our Honor

Friday, March 2nd, 2007

It seems one of my fellow 451press bloggers takes exception to our beloved program, Heroes.

Perhaps you care about NBC’s idiotically stupid Heroes* and the inexplicably popular Spider-Man movies, but I could not possibly care less.

It seems he’d prefer to watch procedural dramas about lawyers, being a lawyer himself. Talk about living on the wild side.

I invite you to head on over and tell him how much you love Heroes and help me to defend out shows honor!

Serials on TV (or the Magic dust)

Friday, February 16th, 2007

Popmatters.com has a nifty little article on the current experiment of TV shows and serialized content. They make some pretty interesting points regarding the slowness of audiences to commit to serial style programs and how with the popularity of shows like 24 and Lost, people are pretty tied up with favorites. this tidbit was for all my Heroes peeps out there:

“Heroes? (NBC): The top new show this fall, drawing 14.4 million viewers, and the only series that really has that magic dust: hopeful, romantic and filled with great characters. As complicated as the long-run plot seems to be, there are shorter stories and scenes every week with big, satisfying payoffs.

Magic Dust…nice.

Unexpected Synopsis

Thursday, February 15th, 2007

The next episode for Heroes, Unexpected, finally introduces us to the character Hana Gitelman, who made her first appearance in the wireless series in the graphic novels. Hana’s ability to intercept and transmit electronic information makes her an intersting addition to the Heroes cast.

Here’s the lowdown from TV.com:

Peter learns that he and Claude may have been betrayed. Matt’s reunited with the radioactive Ted Sprague and Hana Gitelman a woman with “wireless” mental abilities. Due to Linderman’s influence Niki and Nathan meet again, this time under very different circumstances. After someone Hiro knows dies, he makes a tough choice about his mission. Claire can no longer hold back her anger towards HRG.

Chrispian has also recommended Claires adopted mom as an addition to the deadpool for this season, due to her obvious scrambling from multiple encounters with the Haitian. I think he may be onto something.

New Heroes Tagline: “No one is safe”

Monday, February 12th, 2007

MovieWeb is reporting Heroes has a new tagline: “No one is safe”, and after Sylar’s trip to the Bennets home it sure seems like a very apt tagline.

Heroes Creator Tim Kring talks about the “catch phrases” so far:

Tim Kring, creator and executive producer of the series says the original “buzz” phrase from the show, “Save the cheerleader, save the world,” was not necessarily intended to be tagline. “Well, the ‘Save the cheerleader’ was just a line of dialogue from the script. And it caught the imagination of a few people over at NBC in the promo department, and they ran with that,” he explains. “And so from then on, we started thinking, ‘Well, what could we do for this next pod of episodes?’ And sure enough, the script already had another line in it that we also liked. So it’s not like we fished around for lines to impose onto the show. They just sort of come naturally out of the show.” And the latest tagline from Heroes is “No one is safe.”
