‘Heroes’ Season 3 News and New 30 Second Trailer

Friday, May 9th, 2008

capt.b0a2b783cc13416fb5363af74f1a90cb.heroes_la114 It seems our "speedy" new villain will not be named Joy at all but instead will be called Daphne. Daphne, played by Brea Grant, will be a villain who is described as "Hiro’s nemesis." In an interview with the Associated Press, Grant describes her character as The Joker to Hiro’s Batman. Grant explains, "I’m stealing a secret that’s been kept in Hiro’s family for a long time that he’s just now found." It sounds like she’ll be playing a big part in Hiro’s storyline in the upcoming season. The photo at right is from the AP article. An additional photo can be found at the source.

If you’re looking for more Season 3 scoop, make sure you check out this TV Guide interview with Jack Coleman. Jack gives us some scoop on what we can expect from his character as well as with Claire, Hiro and Mohinder. As with anything Season 3-related, the interview is slightly spoilery. I’m just warning you…

Bruce Boxleitner Joins ‘Heroes’

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

12175993451press582008101753PM I know a lot of people are worried about new characters joining the show after Season 2 shoved so many down our throats, but I must admit I did a major fangirl squee when I heard this news. Bruce Boxleitner, TRON himself, Scarecrow to Mrs. King, is joining the cast of Heroes. TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello says the role will be recurring and reveals that the original plan was to model the character after Senator (and presidential candidate) John McCain. The character has since been reconceived. He will be sharing scenes with a female series regular, but Ausiello is keeping us guessing on just who that might be. (more…)

More Casting News | Greg Grunberg Films ‘LOST’ episode

Monday, May 5th, 2008

96headshotsmall We previously reported some casting rumors for Season 3 and, as it often turns out with rumors, one of them has proven to be false. According to TV Guide’s Ausiello, it won’t be Wynn Everett playing the speedy Joy, but Brea Grant instead.

Brea is best known for her role as Landry’s rebound girl, Jean Brinnel, on Friday Night Lights. She has also guest starred on Cold Case. Brea will be playing Joy, described as “quick on her feet — and adept at getting herself into and out of trouble.” Her power of speed apparently rivals that of The Flash and it is believed Joy will be one of the many Villains we will see in the next story arc. One of her first encounters with our Heroes, will be when she meets Hiro in a museum. He asks her if she has powers and if she is trying to steal some art. She convinces him that she’s not stealing, and then makes off with a bunch of paintings. (more…)

‘Heroes’ Quick News for Monday, April 14

Monday, April 14th, 2008

gn80-sp.gif TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello tells us that 2 new recurring roles are being cast for Season 3. The first is “Joy,” a young woman in her 20’s who is described as “quick on her feet — and adept at getting herself into and out of trouble.” The other is “Senator Robert Malden,” a man in is in his fifties described as “a political straight shooter.”

Kristen Bell told EW.com that her reps are working to get her back on Heroes next season. “I have made it more than clear that I want to come back and they have made it more than clear that they want me back.” She said it’s all a matter of scheduling at this point. She also said she’s excited about the possibility of having more scenes with her friend, Zachary Quinto. (more…)

Heroes News for the week of March 9-15

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

It’s been one of those weeks, Heroes fans. I let blogging get away from me and I owe you some Heroes scoop. I’ve been taking notes all week of the things I wanted to tell you so let me get started!

2emzh9l Hayden Panettiere is in the April edition of Cosmopolitan magazine. She discusses guys, messed-up actresses, and being a good “bad girl.” The cover is shown here but if you’d like to see scans of the inside, you can find them here.

Thomas Dekker, who starred as Zach in Season 1, has said that Life & Style Magazine misquoted him when they reported that he thought Hayden dating Milo was “gross.” Apparently Dekker came face to face with a reporter from the rag at a party and said, “Wait a minute! Aren’t you guys the ones who reported that comment about Hayden?!…I’m gonna kill that guy! I said it was gross, but then I said I was just kidding! He went on to explain, “I would have to actually care to be disgusted by it. I’m not disgusted. And, you know, if the relationship is making them happy, then of course it’s not gross. I’m just saying that I could never date someone with that big of an age [difference]. I just don’t see myself having anything in common with a person whose age is that [far from mine], but that’s just me.” I guess he told them! (more…)

Yet Another Star Trek Alum Joins the Cast

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

More casting news for Season 2 -

Dominic Keating, best known as Lt. Malcolm Reed on Star Trek Enterprise, has signed on for a recurring role on Heroes. Keating will play an Irish mobster, but details about his character have not been released.

Dianna Agron has also landed a recurring role as a cheerleader, presumably at Claire’s new school. Agron has been seen in roles on Veronica Mars, CSI: NY, and Shark.

Is Ricky Gervais Joining the Cast?

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

Rumor around the blogosphere is that Ricky Gervais, who just won an Emmy for his role in Extras, is joining the Heroes cast for Season 2. I did some research to find out if it was true and I came up with this clip from the British talk show Richard and Judy where he appeared with Hayden Panettiere and Milo Ventimiglia last month. Gervais is apparently a big fan of the show and he hints in the interview that he might be making an appearance (at about 1:20 in the clip).

Was he kidding? He is a comedian after all. I think he’s brilliant, so I hope it is true.

Plot Hints for Season 2

Friday, September 7th, 2007

Artist Tim Sale, James Kyson Lee (Ando), Co-executive Producer Jeph Loeb,
Dania Ramirez (Maya),
Zachary Quinto (Sylar) and Noah Gray-Cabey (Micah)
in New York City for the Heroes World Tour

During the Heroes world tour, some of the cast members gave us some hints about what’s to come in Season 2 (If you don’t want to know…stop reading now). The Season 2 premiere will be set four months after the events in the season 1 finale. Here are a few clues to what you will see come September 24:

“I’m just trying to get some more power,” teased Zachary Quinto, who plays Sylar, whose trail of blood led off screen in the season finale, after he failed to make New York go “boom.” While the bad guy will continue his evil ways — slicing the heads off “Heroes” and fleecing their special abilities — there are changes ahead.

“The point at which we left the story in season one, and the point at which we begin in season two are vastly different for my character, and for all of the characters, really,” said Quinto…

Kristen Bell Says She’s in for 13 eppys

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

Another Star Trek Alum Joins Heroes

Monday, August 20th, 2007

13539594451press820200734827PM.jpgMy TV Guide magazine just arrived in the mailbox and I was happy to learn that Heroes has recruited another Star Trek star. We’ve already got Sulu (George Takei) on board as Hiro’s father and now Uhura will be joining the cast.

Nichelle Nichols will have a recurring role as Nana, “a New Orleans doyenne whose daughter died during Hurricane Katrina.”

“Nana is tough and undaunted and — like the blues — she just keeps rising to the occasion,” Nichols says. The character, who is in dire financial straits, has moved back into her once-flooded home, where

Kristen Bell joining Heroes

Monday, August 20th, 2007

14439767451press8202007103437AM.jpgHi, I’m Debbie and I’ve just joined the writing team here at Watching Heroes. I’m a huge fan of the show and very excited to be here to bring you Heroes news and discuss the show (in only 35 more days! Yippee!).

I just read that Kristen Bell, best known as Veronica Mars, is joining the cast of Heroes for several episodes this season. A couple of weeks ago, she was rumored to be joining LOST, but that turned out to be false. This seems like it’s the real deal though. Here’s what Variety has to say: (more…)

Casting News for Season 2

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

Hollywood Reporter has a nice little bit of dish on the second season casting. Definitely seems that we are going to see a lot of Hiro back in ancient times, rather than it being a one episode flashback like some of season 1’s episodes.

NBC’s sci-fi drama “Heroes” is casting a wide net for next season, tapping Barry Shabaka Henley, Holt McCallany, “Alias” alum David Anders, Japanese pop star and actress Eriko Tamura, Lyndsy Fonseca and Dianna Agron for recurring roles.

Anders will play the most intriguing part, that of the ancient samurai warrior Takezo Kensei, Hiro Nakamura’s (Masi Oka) childhood hero. While never seen during “Heroes’ ” first season, Kensei played a key part in the show’s plot. Hiro spent most of the season trying to get ahold of Kensei’s sword, which he hoped would help him in his quest to save the world.

It will also be interesting to see what they are planning as the next big threat to our Heroes. Read the article to get a little more inside scoop.

Stan “The Man” Lee Came on Heroes!

Monday, February 5th, 2007

How awesome is it that one of the Godfathers of Comic Books and super heroes will be appearing in the show? Stan is probably at least partly responsible for how I turned out as a human being and I know he shaped my imagination and started off my obsession with super heroes. Stan created or had a hand in creating some of hottest comic properties of all time: Spider-Man, The X-Men and The Incredible Hulk, just to name a few popular ones. The list goes on and on though and just about every comic book fanboy out there would wet themselves if they got to meet the living legend. Masi Oka is just such a fanboy and he’s getting to meet the legend in episode 19. Masi, say hi for all us hardcore fanboys that probably will never get that chance. Be my nerd proxy, sir!

Here is the quote that’s been floating around but I haven’t found the source yet:

Stan “The Man” Lee is set to make a cameo appearance as a bus driver in the Monday, February 19 episode of NBC’s hit drama “Heroes.” The episode, titled “Unexpected,” features a scene in which Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka) encounters the legendary Lee.

Masi is my personal hero right now.

Heroes in February

Thursday, January 25th, 2007
cover

The current cover story for TVGuide Magazine features our beloved Heroes.

Claire finds her birth parents. Peter vanishes. Hiro’s father shows up, and so does a startling new Israeli hero with high-tech capabilities. Someone will die. NBC’s Heroes is headed for an explosive February.

From what I’ve been able to make out, the newest hero, Hana Gitelman, is Claires biological mother and also the one that puts Ted in motion to nuke the city. Check the clip here to see what I’m talking about. The clip in the side bar gives us a great glimpse of Hana in action.

The article also talks about George Takei doing a stint as Hiro’s father.

Continuing with your “Meet the Parents” theme, Hiro’s father — played by George Takei — also pops up Jan. 29, right? And it’s going to be blow-your-mind cool. The character will provide a gateway into a whole world back in Japan that we will explore in Season 2 — a story about Hiro’s family and his past.

I can only imagine who gets killed off. Read the rest of the article to get a glimpse at what is in store for February. I know that I will definitely be tuning in.
