Watching Heroes

Hayden Panettiere had a busy day in New York yesterday.  In addition to taping an episode of MTV’s TRL, she also dropped by the Ed Sullivan Theater to tape an interview for The Late Show with David Letterman. After the taping, she took time to greet a few of her fans and sign some autographs.

Hayden is no doubt making the rounds on the talk shows to do publicity for the 3rd season of Heroes but I’m sure she’s also giving her new single and upcoming album a plug as well.

You can catch Hayden’s Late Show appearance on Friday, September 5th.  Her TRL episode will air Thursday at 11am on MTV.  She is also scheduled to appear on the CBS special Fashion Rocks next Tuesday, September 9th.

Heroes star (and pop singer) Hayden Panettiere paid a visit to MTV today for a live taping of an episode of TRL. She’s sure to be promoting the new season of Heroes as well as her upcoming album, which, according to Hayden’s MySpace page, is set for release in late summer.  Her single, "Wake Up Call," which can be heard in Hayden’s Kohl’s commercials, is available now at iTunes and Amazon.

Heroes stars Masi Oka and Milo Ventmiglia continued their visit to Australia with an appearance at JB Hi-Fi Store in Sydney today, looking a little more casual than they did in the interview from yesterday.

Masi and Milo greeted hundreds of fans, some of whom had been waiting since 7 am for the 1 pm event, and signed copies of the Heroes DVD. While Masi said he enjoyed making the connection with fans, Milo admitted that he really didn’t get why people liked to collect autographs.

“If I’ve ever been a fan of a musician or an athlete or an actor I think even when I was kid I never asked for autographs. I’d just walk up and say, *thank you, I like your work’, and walk away, Ventimiglia said. “The kind of clamouring for that celebrity I’ve never really understood so much.  You’ve got to wonder what The Beatles must have felt like.”

Milo also said he didn’t understand why some fans were upset when he shortened his signature to his first name. “I’m thinking, ‘why do you want my full name? What are you going to do with it? What credit card companies are you going to go to?’"

Masi repeated his mantra and explained, “To be a geek means you’re passionate about something, whether that’s comic books, water, architecture or whatever, and I think that shows our individuality and who we are as humans.  I’d rather be passionate about something than apathetic about everything.”

Heroes on MySpace is giving away a chance to attend the Heroes Countdown Party to be held at the Edison in Los Angeles on September 7th at 5pm.  This is where the “Countdown to the Premiere" special will be taped for broadcast on September 22 and I believe the cast is scheduled to be on hand.

To enter, visit this page and RSVP for the event.  Then send an email with your name, e-mail address, postal address or current residence, and date of birth to nbcheroes@nbcuni.com.  Five winners will be chosen.  Transportation will be provided for those living in the LA area, otherwise you’re on your own.

Milo Ventimiglia, Masi Oka, and Heroes creator Tim Kring are scheduled to make a trip to Australia to promote the series on September 1 and 2.

The trip will celebrate the debut season which is currently showing on Sci Fi, and the October 1 release of Season 2 on DVD.   While there, Masi and Milo will be making an appearance to meet and greet fans and sign autographs at JB Hi-Fi Store located at The Galeries Victoria, 500 George St, Sydney from 1:15pm to 2:45pm.

Heroes Season 2 will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on October 1st, 2008 in Australia.

Aussie fans, Sci Fi Pi is in the process of gathering questions which will be asked in an interview during their visit so take some time to visit Sci Fi Pi to put in your question.

Heroes ladies Ali Larter and Hayden Panettiere were on the guest list for the all-star party to introduce the Trump Tower Dubai. The event was held on August 23, 2008 at a private residence in Los Angeles, California.  Both Ali and Hayden looked gorgeous. Hayden even got a photo op with The Donald himself.  Take a look:

The stars of Heroes were part of a press conference at the Four Seasons Hotel on August 21 in Beverly Hills, California and we have a few photos of the cast for you.  Hayden Panettiere apparently did not attend but the other 11 primary cast members were in attendance.

As you may have heard, more than a dozen of the world’s most accomplished female recording artists, including  Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Fergie, Sheryl Crow, Miley Cyrus, Melissa Etheridge, Ashanti, Natasha Bedingfield, Keyshia Cole, Ciara, Leona Lewis, LeAnn Rimes, and Carrie Underwood, have joined together for “Just Stand Up,” a charity single in support of “Stand Up To Cancer.”  SU2C is a new initiative to raise money for cancer research.

In addition to the single, which will be released to radio on September 2nd, an all-star televised performance will take place live on Friday, September 5th at 8pm (ET and PDT).  The commercial-free event will be televised simultaneously on ABC, CBS and NBC, making it the first simultaneous cross-network broadcast ever to raise funds for the fight against a disease.

Heroes star Masi Oka is confirmed to be appearing on the broadcast along with Jennifer Aniston, Christina Applegate, Lance Armstrong, David Cook, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Kirsten Dunst, Meryl Streep, Charlize Theron, Forest Whitaker, Reese Witherspoon and many others.  Celebrities will make personal appearances and answer telephone calls during the broadcast.  Additional performers may be announced later.

Dragon*Con, one of the world’s largest Science Fiction and popular arts conventions, will be held in Atlanta over Labor Day weekend, August 29 to September 1. Every summer, over thirty thousand fans from all over the world attend the convention, which is held at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, Atlanta Marriott Marquis, Hilton Atlanta, and Sheraton Atlanta. The convention is hosted by a 1,000+ member, all-volunteer staff and this year benefits the American Heart Association.

This year, Dragon*Con boasts several Heroes-related guests.  Stars Hayden Panettiere (Claire Bennet) and James Kyson Lee (Ando Masahashi) are scheduled to appear, as are several Heroes guest stars - Erick Avari (Chandra Suresh), Dominic Keating (Will),  and George Takei (Kaito Nakamura).

According to Spoiler TV, Tim Kring has confirmed that the first hour of the two hour Season 3 premiere WILL be shown at Comic-Con on Saturday during the 10:30 Heroes panel.  **Another reason for me to hate that I am not there. **

The Heroes ladies were out and about last night at the NBC Universal 2008 Press Tour Party which was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Hayden Panettiere looked beautiful in a snug-fitting mauve dress paired with gold heels. She had her new short ‘do pulled back.

Comic Con International will be upon us in just about a week and we now have information about which of the Heroes‘ cast will be there and what the Heroes event on Saturday, July 26 will entail. From Comic Con’s website:

Looks like all the show’s biggest stars will be there. I would say, though, that the rumors that Tim Kring would show the season 3 premier in its entirety were wrong. The hour and fifteen minute panel would seem to rule that out.
