Blind Item: Which Heroes Star Wants Out?
E! Online’s Kristin has posted a blind item citing sources “close to Heroes” which indicates that one of the cast members is looking to exit the show at the end of this season, in part because of lack of screen time.
According to her sources, NBC has not yet decided whether to let this actor out of his/her contract. There is, however, a “death” planned for the end of Volume 4 that could “wipe out this character for good.”
Here are the clues to who it might be:
- It’s a series regular who’s been on since season one.
- Some of you fans would freak if this actor were to leave.
- This particular Hero-ic soul has more name recognition than others in the cast.
- According to Peacock-net insiders, NBC is not likely to release this actor. (See number three.)
- If this actor does return for season four, there’s an easy way to bring him or her back from the planned “death.”

My guess is Ali Larter. She is a regular, Tracy wasn’t even on S3, and if they bring her back she would be *sigh* Barbara.
January 8th, 2009 at 2:29 pm
Or hayden, all clues works for her too….
January 8th, 2009 at 2:32 pm
It’s Hiro
January 8th, 2009 at 2:39 pm
“…one of the cast members is looking to exit the show at the end of this season, in part because of lack of screen time.”
Elazm: “Or hayden, all clues works for her too….”
But you can count the episodes Hayden Panettiere hasn’t been in on one hand (literally), whereas Ali Larter hasn’t had much screen time this season so far.
January 8th, 2009 at 3:41 pm
What about Mohinder… this might also work for him
January 8th, 2009 at 3:44 pm
Since when is Sendhil Ramamurthy a recognizable name outside of heroes? This in no way applies to mohinder. It’s either obviously ali larter.
January 8th, 2009 at 3:58 pm
It’s totally Milo. They said actor not actress and he’s the only one with who had a serious background as an actor before Heroes
January 8th, 2009 at 3:59 pm
I would also go with Ali Larter, but if not her Hayden would be my second guess
January 8th, 2009 at 4:25 pm
i’m going with ali larter or masi oka on this one.
January 8th, 2009 at 4:28 pm
its hiro, states it in the paragraph
“This particular ‘Hero’-ic soul has more name recognition than others in the cast.”
obviously hiro
January 8th, 2009 at 4:58 pm
I think it’s more likely to be Hiro..
January 8th, 2009 at 5:10 pm
I’m thinking Ali Larter or Masi Oka.
January 8th, 2009 at 5:31 pm
one of the cast members is looking to exit the show at the end of this season, in part because of lack of screen time
I’m thinking it is Sendhil, he has had a lack of screen time.
Milo has had plenty of screen time not to mention is the central character.
Masi has had plenty of screen time
Ali is possibly going to leave
It must be Ali or Sendhil, I could care less about either of them.
January 8th, 2009 at 5:46 pm
Its either Hiro or Nathan
January 8th, 2009 at 6:50 pm
How can they even think/dare to get rid of the main one? It’s just ridiculous! C’mon guy look at the picture of the main cast! Put your finger on the one that you think would go and realise that the show will not be the same!!! God!!! I am getting all emotional about it, but I am also a realist.
Plus it all points to be Ali (or Milo, Masi). If that’s Ali I put my hand on my heart and promisse that I will never watch this againg. They killed so many characters! Kill maya off for good!
Also on the side… Since the Spoiler with one blond female character dying and ‘NOT POINTING AT ELLE’ it appears clear to me that Kristen does not like Ali Larter. ‘Icy blonde’ definatelly is not the favorite one of hers. Why all the spoilers are against Ali Larter? Is that’s all the information we can get about future episodes?
Plus after all its fans! Writers can change their minds every second. They want to make the best show ever.
January 8th, 2009 at 7:25 pm
For lack of screen time and character development, it sure points out to Ali Larter, but then last Thanksgiving (2008), Al Roker asked her if she and the Heroes cast still have a good time on the show…she said:
Ali Larter: “We love it. It’s a family there now. We love coming to work and creating things people love to see.”
January 8th, 2009 at 7:29 pm
Why is everybody hating on Ali Larter? She’s a great actress and she is pretty amazing on the show! So she hasn’t gotten a whole lot of screen time this season…but that doesn’t mean it’s her! KEEP TRACY!
My guess is Hiro. There was a spoiler a little bit ago that said Hiro might die by the end of Season Three.
January 8th, 2009 at 8:48 pm
NO! THEY CANT KILL OFF HIRO!!!
January 8th, 2009 at 9:23 pm
I think it’s zach quinto, coz he fits 4 all of d above theorys!
1. he has been a series reg. since s.1
2. ppl WOULD freak out if he left
3. he’s been cast for a few other movies
5. it would be easy 2 bring him bak coz he can regenurate!!
January 8th, 2009 at 9:31 pm
It’s quite clearly Ali Larter.
1. Series regular since Season One - Niki/Jessica Sanders, Tracy Strauss
2. Some fans would freak - I’m sure she has her fans, but this isn’t much of a clue
3. More name recognition - go check out IMDB: Ms. Larter has had quite the movie career already - whipped cream bikini scene, anyone?
4. Not likely to be released - again, not much of a clue, but when combined with the next clue….
5. Easy way to bring back from “planned death” - Barbara Zimmerman has only been seen in that one photo at the good doctor’s house and is obviously still at-large.
And when you factor-in the whole lack of screentime thing, she makes the most sense as her character didn’t do much this past volume and may not have a lot of scenes in Vol. 4 either, or at least not enough that she’s filled so far, in her opinion.
And for those saying “they said actor not actress,” that’s a subtly sexist notion: an actor is someone, male or female, who acts. Actress is is just the quick way to say female actor, to make it easier for award shows. In theater, both men and women are simply referred to as thespians and people are still able to figure out what gender they are.
Her exit from the show was rumored some time ago; it’s relatively new that NBC has no interest in letting her go. Personally, I think Tracy Strauss is a better character than her previous one(s) and I was kinda hoping we’d see a little more of her in “Fugitives,” but this doesn’t sound promising.
January 8th, 2009 at 10:11 pm
I think it is either Ali Larter or Greg Grunberg. Both were series regulars since season one. Some fans would freak, a lot of people like both of these actors. More name recognition: Again Ali Larter has been in many movies and is more well known. And Greg Grunberg has been in both Felicity and Alias so he obviously has more fans. And both of their characters are important to the story.
And for people saying Hayden she cant die! Unless she gets her head shot off. So how would they be able to bring her back??? And if it wouldnt be much of a kill if they killed her because she would come back to life. And “some” fans would freak? more like many or almost all. she is basically (with peter and hiro) the cover people for the show. so Alot more than “some” fan would be upset.
January 8th, 2009 at 10:18 pm
Micah has been in one episode of season 3 and he’s still under contract..
January 8th, 2009 at 11:29 pm
Seems to point to Claire. That would be unfortunate.
January 8th, 2009 at 11:54 pm
Guys its not masi milo sendhil greg or zachary
First of all Masi was considering quiting acting all together until he hit big on heroes, he’s now like idolized in japan because he has a main role as a japanese character on an american show, a very rare occurrence.
Its not Milo greg or zachary for the reason that the person leaving is someone complaining about screen time, these 3 are of the 5 that have had the most screentime so far (the other two being Hayden and Masi)
It is not sendhil because the fans HATE him so very few people would be upset if he left, and he isn’t a big name outside of heroes, no one knows who he is.
January 9th, 2009 at 12:38 am
What about Jack Coleman (H.R.G)? His role has decreased since Season 1 even if he still gets a fairly large amount of screen time, he has some name recognition from Dynasty, and a good amount of fans would freak if he left. As for bringing him back, well, he’s already came back from the dead once.
January 9th, 2009 at 4:06 am
Its not hiro cause he gets lots of air time.
January 9th, 2009 at 6:58 am
i think it might me hayden…
but i hope it isn’t…
January 9th, 2009 at 7:54 am
@25
you have a very good point with jack coleman, and actually that would be even worse than anyone else :\
about the name recognition thing, what about name recognition *within* the show. (so not their actor names.)
Hiro, HRG, Peter petrelli and Sylar are on top there.
January 9th, 2009 at 11:15 am
The one part that would seem to say it’s NOT Claire, though, is the part about a lack of screen time….
January 9th, 2009 at 11:46 am
NOT ALI LARTER! GUYS, I JUST STARTED GETTING SET ON TRACY! First Niki now tracy…
Kick her out and I kick your butts!!! !!! !!!
January 9th, 2009 at 12:23 pm
Logic points me at the following 4:
Hayden, Ali, Milo, and Masi.
That said, I really hope none of the cast really wanna leave.
January 9th, 2009 at 1:40 pm
totally agree with u Matt! if claire dies it will be a biiiig boom 4 the show. If she’s the one who dies, I hope it’s just 4 two episodes! I guess is Masi, Milo or Adrian (but is better that no one goes away, I love them all)
January 9th, 2009 at 2:31 pm
my first guess was Ali Larter. she’s got a huge name in film that dates back to 97. then again Milo Ventimiglia is also a huge name that dates back only two more years… plus he’s directed and produced several projects.
and as far as being devastated to see go, i’d say Milo would be the best candidate for that.
so… Milo?
January 9th, 2009 at 2:34 pm
ok, no it can’t be Milo due to the whole screen time issue as stated by several other people. so my guess is Ali Larter
January 9th, 2009 at 5:25 pm
My guess is also Ali Larter, cause of Barbara. Because of her, Ali could come back any time. I would vote against Milo or Hayden, cause thy are both titulars and together. Of one leaves, the other must too.
January 9th, 2009 at 6:31 pm
For those of you who think it is Hayden, Masi, Sendhil, Jack Coleman, or Milo here’s some information that disproves that.
Hiro Nakamura (45 appearances)
Claire Bennet (44 appearances)
Noah Bennet (43 appearances)
Peter Petrelli (40 appearances)
Mohinder Suresh (40 appearances)
There are only 6 characters that have had more than 40 appearances (the other being Ando, who has not been part of the main cast since Season 1)
Everyone saying these actors, you don’t make sense! they all have the most appearances in the series.
It is probably Ali Larter but could also be Greg Grunberg or Adrian Pasdar.
January 9th, 2009 at 8:45 pm
ffs its hayden or milo… dont be stupid..
January 10th, 2009 at 2:01 pm
Here’s an interesting quote of Ali Larter I’ve read in one of her TV Guide interviews back in 2007…
Ali Larter: You know what? Nothing’s real on our show in that way. If you think someone is going away, they’ll probably end up coming back. One of the points of our show is that it has a revolving door. Whatever you expect, think the opposite.
It maybe Ali who’s leaving or it may not…who knows? We’ll all eventually find out when Vol. 4 starts or ends, lol.
January 10th, 2009 at 7:03 pm
I’m going with either Ali Larter or Greg Grunberg.
January 11th, 2009 at 12:05 am
it cannot be Jack Coleman or Zach Quinto - hey were not regulars in the start of season one. Jack became a regular in fallout, and zach in kindred.
January 11th, 2009 at 6:08 am
couple of days ago, i thought it was hiro..
after his latest comments, i now think it’s mohinder. he thinks he lacked both the screen time and the character building in the show.and he seems right.for so much potential, his scientific approach seems totally lost.he’s corrupted.
January 11th, 2009 at 11:41 pm
2. Some of you fans would freak if this actor were to leave.
Points at two faces, Masi Oka and Greg Grunberg.
3. This particular Hero-ic soul has more name recognition than others in the cast.
Again, Masi Oka and Greg Grunberg, light possibility of Jack Coleman.
4. According to Peacock-net insiders, NBC is not likely to release this actor. (See number three.)
Same two as above.
5. If this actor does return for season four, there’s an easy way to bring him or her back from the planned “death.”
Masi Oka. Bring Hiro back from the future.
It was discussed by Tim Kring before that Hiro may be killed off, and Grunny seems to be loving his work right now, so I am going to say unfortunately it’s Hiro to go.
January 12th, 2009 at 1:58 am
I really don’t want it to be, but I’m leaning towards Ali. Its just dissapointing because they atarted to develop Tracy’s character really well, then after Villains it was like she was just sorta “there” in the background. Killing her off instead of developing her character just to introduce Barbara would be incredibly stupid. Plus, killing one sister TEHN introducing the next one makes it so much less believable, which is why Tracy was not a hit. If they must kill Tracy, they should at least introduce Barbara first; we all know that Ali can pull off playing two characters at once!
To anyone who says it is Hiro: I WISH! Ugh, he’s so irritating and whiney, he has always just really irked me. His only good storline was Charlie, honestly. Think about it: Feudal Japan? Thinks he’s ten? “I must get the formula back thats gone because I can’t learn to live from my past mistakes and listen to what people say”? Now that his powers are gone, the writers want to get rid of his character without neccesarily killing him which is a huge disappointment to me :’( I just want him to die so I can get past my disgust for him! ARGH!!
January 12th, 2009 at 2:06 am
*I meant Villains as in the episode, sorry for any confusion*
Since I’m already correcting myself:
disappointed not dissapointed
started not atarted
THEN not TEHN
storyline not storline
learn to learn not learn to live
January 12th, 2009 at 2:45 am
most likely ali
1. shes been a rugular
2. i dont think she has quite as many fans as other cast members
3. she has a more developed profile than the rest of the cast
4. her character has a lot of potential. they could continue where they left off with tracy or create a whole new outilne with barbra. why would they let someone so valuable leave?
5. it was mentioned that the CHARACTER has a planed death that would be permanent and that they could bring the ACTOR back. they could keep tracy dead and bring back ali as barbra
thats what i think
but then again, as long as hiro stays alive then they can bring back anyone! (just from a diferent time period) but i doubt they would have him bring back someone for the whole season.
plus if they get rid of hayden i’ll rip them to shreds
and the ratings would go down drasticly.
January 12th, 2009 at 9:05 am
[...] Santos said on the air that it is either Hayden Pannettiere or Ali Larter who was referenced in her blind item from last week. Here is the quote, as reported by one of their readers, Rebel: "I have to tell [...]
January 12th, 2009 at 5:05 pm
Almost certainly Ali Larter
“In part because of lack of screen time.”
Definately less screen time continually since Season 1, although Season 3 introduced her as a very interesting character.
“There is, however, a “death” planned for the end of Volume 4 that could “wipe out this character for good.””
Kill Tracy, bring Barbara in. Could either kill or not kill Barbara too, leaves Ali the option to continue starring even if they kill her current character.
“It’s a series regular who’s been on since season one.”
“Some of you fans would freak if this actor were to leave.” The operative word being “some”. Shes not the most popular character, but she has her fans.
“This particular Hero-ic soul has more name recognition than others in the cast.”
When the show started, Ali Larter was the most well known actor in the cast. Others might have more recognition now, but none have any real movie roles under their belt… yet
“If this actor does return for season four, there’s an easy way to bring him or her back from the planned “death.””
Already mentioned, Tracy may die, but Barbara can be introduced to allow Ali to stay in the show
January 13th, 2009 at 1:16 am
Yea after reading that quote I have to say Ali, the Hayden thing is bullshit.
May 8th, 2009 at 6:36 pm
I think it’s Milo. Either that or Masi.
I’d also say Ali, but it says “actor” not “actress.”
May 8th, 2009 at 6:37 pm
Then again, it says “him or her…”
I hope it’s not Zachary Quinto, though that’s my last guess…
May 10th, 2009 at 2:34 pm
it would make sense if it was zachary quinto for the following reasons:
1. he will have a much bigger profile after the star trek film and might want to branch out now that he has more of an opportunity
2. he has taken the form of nathan so clearly zq can’t be in it as long as that continues. that plot development could be their way of dealing with his wish to leave
May 22nd, 2009 at 4:44 pm
The person killed off was nathen but then sylar had his mind wiped by matt and replaced by nathen’s memories but it was ali larter who wanted to quit though.
June 4th, 2009 at 5:25 pm
I would highly suggest the cast member to be Ali Larter. Yes, i agree that she portrayed many roles, but we all have to agree that she did not have a lot of screen play during season 3. This is why i suggest that she will play the role of the badguy in season 4 allowing her to have a good death that will have reccurences on the serie.
June 7th, 2009 at 12:52 pm
It’s Adrian Pasdar or Zachary Quinto (Sylar)
btw Ali Larter was doing a movie with Beyoncé
